Running all aspects of a small Provincially certified seafood processing facility handling exclusively sport caught fish while achieving the highest standard of quality of vacuum packed fish output, record keeping, plant cleanliness/maintenance and regulation adherence.

You are a positive up beat persons, that thrives while working with a team and have the ability to work well with others in a healthy, respectful and fun environment. You will be highly interactive with guests on an ongoing basis, you are also a host.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Receiving/identifying species Pacific Fish and utilizing forms to record accurately
  • Coordinate, track, implement and manage all aspects of the process queue
  • Trimming and preparing fish for processing. (Excellent with a knife)
  • Vacuum packing, labeling, and freezing. Boxing, strapping and preparing transport paperwork
  • Preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Maintaining plant cleaning and refrigeration logs
  • Manage all inventories of bags, labels, boxes, materials, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Deploy minor equipment maintenance as required

Hours vary day to day depending on volume and other work tasks. Processing begins daily in the afternoons when guests return from fishing. Every fourth day is guest check out/in day which requires a split shift early morning/late night.

The work is physical and requires lifting of up to 20kg of fish. You will also be standing continuously.

Proven experience in fish processing and the ability to use a computer/tablet to generate reports, create labels, and other related admin work is essential.

Seasonal live in position at remote fishing lodge in Kyuquot Sound from middle of June through mid-September. Salary and completion bonus, all meals and accommodations provided as well as transportation to/from the Kyuquot Lodge from Port Alberni provided at beginning and end of employment term.

Qualifications 
  • High school or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in fish processing
  • Proficient in English
  • Food Safe Certification
