The Alberni Valley Early Years Centre (EYC) is accepting applications from qualified individuals or organizations to plan and implement an innovative preschool and learning lab in the Alberni Valley Early Years Centre.
The Alberni Valley Early Years Centre (EYC) is a standalone building located on the EJ Dunn school grounds, at 3500 Argyle Street. The EYC has been operational for a year and has welcomed 20+ community partners to share the space to serve local children and families.
The preschool/learning lab will be an innovative space for children to learn through play. It will also act as a learning lab for North Island College’s Early Childhood Care and Education program. On a regular bases, the NIC ECCE program will attend the preschool for the purposes of observation, hands-on learning, and mentoring. It is essential that the preschool proprietor understands current theory and practice in ECCE and aligns their preschool program with evidence based practice in line with the ECCE curriculum. The preschool will run the length of the school year (September – June) and will be open three mornings per week, for 3 hours each morning (9 hours each week).
