Do you have excellent personal communication, social media experience and note taking abilities? Alberni Children First is seeking a Communication Coordinator, responsible for supporting the Networks communication strategies in the Alberni Valley.

The Alberni Children First Network builds community capacity and improve supports to children and families through communication, learning, transparency and cooperation. We identify service gaps, family needs and inform local and regional organizations and funders of best practices in supporting children and families.

The Provincially funded initiative is guided by a partnership of United Ways, Credit Unions of British Columbia and the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Together we work to enhance the lives of children and families through the initiative.

We build community capacity and improve supports to children and families through communication, learning, transparency and cooperation. We identify service gaps and family needs and inform local and regional organizations and funders in terms of best practices in supporting children and families.

Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree, Early Childhood diploma and/or equivalent related training with knowledge of early childhood development and current issues.
  • Experience incommunity development, effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledgeable and efficient with maintaining websites, social media platforms.
  • Experience working within indigenous communities and with cultural protocols. Previous experience with grant proposal writing, marketing and media experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

This term position is funded by annually renewed SBY6 funding for that given year. There is no guarantee of a renewal of this position. Any renewal is dependant upon receiving funding each year. Renewal is at the discretion of the Alberni Children First Network.

The Coordinator will work 20 hours per month from August 15- March 31 weeks during the 2017-2018
fiscal year. (10 hrs month in August and December)
