SUMMARY

The West Coast Café (WCC) is owned and operated by the West Coast General Hospital (WCGH) Foundation and is located in the hospital’s lobby adjacent to the Health Square.Reporting directly to the WCC Coordinator, the kiosk attendant will be responsible for the efficient serving of quality fresh food and beverages, safe food rotation and accurate daily cash-out, while always ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing general duties including opening, closing and securing the WCC kiosk within the specified hours;
  • Maintaining a clean, efficient workplace in accordance with all applicable regulations and guidelines for the safe handling of food, beverages, and equipment;
  • Daily handling, depositing and accounting of cash and receipts according to established procedures;
  • Performing other duties from time to time, consistent with the kiosk attendant’s qualifications, skills, and experience. Such duties may include, but are not limited to, operating the kiosk in the absence of the WCC Coordinator due to illness or vacation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

We expect this part-time position to begin as soon as possible. The position is for 8 hours of work weekly, 4 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday. The WCC is a small but busy café, requiring the attendant to be on his or her feet several hours per day. The successful candidate must be highly organized and willing and able to maintain a high degree of professionalism when dealing with all WCC customers and WCGH Foundation stakeholders.

Qualifications 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to embrace and uphold the philosophy and values of the WCGH Foundation;
  • Ability to interact with customers and volunteers in a consistently courteous, respectful, and professional manner;
  • Organizational and operational skills with attention to detail;
  • Ability to maintain strict timelines and perform efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Leadership and experience serving customers in the food service industry;
  • Current Food Safe Certification;
  • Experience operating an espresso machine and preparing specialty coffees and teas desirable;
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is preferable; and
  • Criminal Record check required.
