West Coast Aquatic Safaris (WCAS) is looking for a dynamic, motivated & enthusiastic individual to join our team for the 2018 season in a Master (Captain) position. We need a candidate who will operate our 36 passenger catamaran NANUQ as well as our 12 passenger cabin cruiser WASCO

Key Responsibilities are:
•   Safely operate 36 passenger Catamaran NANUQ or 12 passenger Cabin Cruiser WASCO
•   Delegate to crew members tasks as needed
•   Ensure vessel is operating efficiently (e.g. regular maintenance)
•   Communicate with sales staff regarding trips and scheduling
•   Update fellow captains on emerging pertinent information
•   Provide sales staff with updates on location of vessel throughout trip
•   Maintain cleanliness throughout vessel
•   Inform management of any issues and incidents promptly
•   Provide information about the local wildlife and culture to passengers
•   Perform regular safety drills throughout the season
•   May be required to act as deckhand/naturalist on occasion
 
Position is located in Tofino, B.C.; staff accommodation may be available for the right candidate.
Qualifications 
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
•   Limited <60 GT Masters
•   Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A2
•   Marine Basic First Aid
•   Marine Medical Certificate
•   Restricted Operator’s Certificate (Maritime Commercial) ROC-MC
•   Flexible schedule
•   Strong work ethic & the ability to take initiative
•   Very organized, personable and reliable
•   Mechanical skills an asset
•   Knowledge of local wildlife and area an asset
•   Marine Emergency Duties (MED) B1also an asset
•   Second language an asset (Preferably German or French)
