The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s is seeking a term (to March 31, 2021) fulltime, Capital Project Advisor II (CPA 2) to assist First Nations with their community-based GIS and Mapping projects. Based out Port Alberni, the CPA 2 will serve as a resource person, advisor and monitor to support First Nation efforts to maintain accurate and detailed maps of their assets and territory. This position is subject to annual renewal funding.

Responsibilities will include:
 Assist the CPA 1 with coordination/implementation of GIS and maintenance management software initiatives across the region.
 Establishing lines of communication with all parties throughout the lifecycle of new and existing assets, conducting quality control activities, inspections, generating deficiency lists for assets and provide advice and/or guidance to the First Nations as directed.
 Assist the CPA 1 in creating and maintaining the geographic information database by entering and editing graphic and non-graphic data from source maps and related documentation into the computer using a graphics work station and related equipment; produces hard copy base, legal, and related maps and reports from the computer as scheduled or as required.
 Data collection using GPS units
 Participates in setting priorities on user service requests; makes recommendations regarding the development, alteration or refinement of the geographic system’s capabilities to better meet departmental requirements.

Qualifications 

Preferred Qualifications:
 Grade 12 or GED plus diploma in a cartography/GIS or a construction related field or equivalent combination of training/working knowledge and a minimum of two-years’ of relevant experience.
 Have a working knowledge of National and BC Building Codes
 Have a working knowledge of construction sites/equipment, and WCB safety measures to ensure compliance with all safety regulations
 Have excellent negotiation, problem-solving, presentation and communication skills, and have the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders
 Possess advanced computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS Desktop, Auto-Cad Map, Access. Other software assets would include ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and CityWorks.
 A valid BC driver’s licence and vehicle is required, and ability to travel to the First Nations is required
 Must provide an acceptable criminal record check
