Position Summary:  The Economic Development Research Coordinator will work with the Economic Development Officer (EDO) in the initiation, planning, directing and flow of all economic development related projects.  

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Research sectors related to Economic development as they relate to the Economic Development Plan and Huu-ay-aht process
  • Manage assigned and approved projects as directed by the EDO.
  • Maintain confidentiality and neutrality at all times.
  • Promote a performance-focused environment in alignment with the Huu-ay-aht First Nation’s (HFN) values, culture and business goals.

 

Job Duties:

  • Review, research and assist in the exploration and acquisition of economic development projects.
  • Assist and track economic development related projects through the HFN approval process.
  • Create Request for Proposals (RFP) and contracts as requested.
  • Prepare related correspondence, reports, statements and other material associated with economic development.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering / presenting project and budgeting and reports.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage economic related projects
  • Assist and work alongside of the EDO and project stakeholders to develop project charts related to project implementation, including proposed economic development projects.
  • Create work plans and support funding proposals
  • Assist and oversee where requested, securing feasibility studies, business plans, and marketing plans to assist HFN entrepreneurs
  • Understand and translate HFN policy into operations
  • Provide technical support to the Economic Development Committee.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications 

Operational Requirements:

  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Some travel, including overnight and or weekends. 
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
  • Successful background checks, including employment verification, reference checks, and education/credential verification.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in upholding Organizational Values:  Professionalism, Respect, Health, Effective Communication, Trust, Support.
  • Administrative or related College or University Diploma, Degree or Certificate preferred.
  • 3+ years of previous experience in an administrative support or researcher role. 
  • Experience in project management process, principles and methodologies.
  • Experience creating detailed project documents, RFP’s, and contracts
  • Experience with project and portfolio management (PPM).
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication, report writing and people management skills.
  • Strong skills in research, critical thinking and analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in taking minutes.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
