Wage: Dependent upon education and experience; starts at $14 with no experience / postsecondary education
 
Hours: Full time hours would be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:15 am to 4:15 pm and Tuesdays 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. (hours may change slightly. This position will cover a maternity leave from date of hire to March 2020.)

Duties: The Receptionist is one of the most important positions in any organization. They are responsible for the patient’s first impression. They help set the mood within the clinic and are vital to maintaining efficient patient flow and preparing patient records. Our receptionist will be a team player and will be expected to greet patients personally, professionally and handle all telephone calls and mail requirements.  
 
The person we’re looking for will not consider a phone call an interruption to their busy day…but rather a source of potential business. When the telephone rings they don’t think, "What do they want now?" but rather think "I wonder what awesome opportunity awaits me at the other end of the line?". Your voice tells our patients that they are the most important thing at that moment. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. And it’s always with a smile. You come to work ready with a 10 out of 10 attitude, uplifting other’s around you 

  • Answering phones and scheduling appointments
  • Mailing and emailing patient forms
  • Coordinating specialist referrals
  • Handle web store transactions
  • Billing and receipt of payment for contact lens pickups
  • Prescription release
  • Mail handling
  • Confirming patient appointments

 

Growth Potential: - There is potential for job expansion, including optical sales, diagnostic testing, training to become a vision therapist, and/or administrative functions and could possibly evolve into a permanent position. 

Qualifications 
  • Previous phone and/or reception experience an asset 
  • Proficient in the use of email, internet, Excel and Word
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a very busy environment
  • Post-secondary education an asset
  • Quick learner and self-starter
  • Project self-confidence
  • Outgoing and optimistic personality

  • Able to remain calm and graceful under pressure
