Looking for individuals to join our team for the 2019 season in a Master (Captain) position. We need candidates who will operate our 36 passenger catamaran NANUQ as well as our 12 passenger cabin cruiser WASCO. Position is located in Tofino, B.C.; staff accommodation may be available for the right candidate.
Principle Responsibilities:
• Capable and willing to safely operate 36 passenger catamaran NANUQ and 12 passenger cabin cruiser WASCO as required by scheduling
• Delegate to crew members tasks as needed
• Ensure vessel is operating efficiently (e.g. regular maintenance)
• Communicate with sales staff regarding trips and scheduling
• Update fellow captains on emerging pertinent information
• Provide sales staff with updates on location of vessel throughout trip
• Maintain WCAS cleanliness standards throughout vessel
• Inform management of any issues and incidents promptly
• Provide information about the local flora & fauna, culture and geographical area to passengers
• Perform regular safety drills throughout the season
• May be required to act as deckhand/naturalist on occasion

Qualifications 

Skills, experience and personal attributes required:
• Flexible schedule; willing to work long days
• Strong work ethic & the ability to take initiative
• Very organized & reliable
• Ability to delegate tasks to crew accordingly to optimize operations
• Personable & approachable demeanor
• Exceptional communication and time management skills
• Mechanical skills an asset
• Knowledge of local wildlife and area an asset
• Second language an asset (Preferably German or French)
Qualifications:
• Limited <60 GT Masters
• Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A2 or STCW Basic Safety
• Marine Basic First Aid
• Valid Marine Medical Certificate
• Restricted Operator’s Certificate (Maritime Commercial) ROC-MC
• Marine Emergency Duties (MED) B1 or STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats
• Unrestricted Small Vessel Machinery Operator (SVMO) an asset
