The Tofino Consumers’ Co-operative Association (Tofino Co-op) is recruiting for a positive and enthusiastic Pharmacy Manager to lead the development of our new Pharmacy Department scheduled to open in summer 2019. The Pharmacy Manager will perform pharmacist duties while being responsible for the business objectives of the department. As a brand-new pharmacy in our store you will apply for licensing and ensure we are compliant with all legislative requirements. As a hands-on team leader, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building strong customer relationships based on the principles of professional, friendly and efficient customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop business strategies that support our retail goals and guiding statements.
  • Organize, direct and co-ordinate the operations of the pharmacy while achieving budgeted goals.
  • Comply with (and keep informed of) all government standards and regulations applicable to the Pharmacy and ensure staff are trained on regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Ensure that the record keeping, acquisition, storage and distribution of Narcotic and Controlled Drugs, are performed in accordance with the pertinent governing legislation.
  • Ensure current and accurate professional profiles for all patients are maintained and updated on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure that all prescriptions are processed in accordance with professional/legal requirements.
  • Maintain all educational materials and literature and provided to patients where appropriate.
  • In the event of a medication incident follow protocol for reporting.
  • Document professional services rendered and the outcomes achieved as the direct result of providing pharmaceutical interventions. The Pharmacist will document that dialogue occurred for both new and repeat prescriptions where provincial legislation requires it.
  • Assist in ensuring timely and accurate completion of third party processing, billing, re-submissions, and reporting.
  • Ensure Patient privacy and confidentiality is protected in accordance with regulations.
  • Encourages staff to provide member owners and the community long term sustainable value through service and excellence.

The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion-dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 200 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. FCL has supported Co-op Pharmacies in 68 locations across Western Canada. This will be the first Co-op Pharmacy on Vancouver Island.

Qualifications 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree
  • Currently be a licensed Pharmacist – having or capable of obtaining BC licensing -- and in good standing
  • Possess Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Perform to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possess superior interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Be highly organized, take initiative, and have excellent problem- solving and decision-making skills
  • Possess pharmacy management experience or demonstrate positive potential for serving successfully as pharmacy manager.
