The Ucluelet Brewing Company is looking to open its doors in July of 2019. The brewhouse will be 15hl (mashtun and kettle), with 5 15hl fermentors, 4 15hl brite tanks. All of this will be in the basement of a renovated church, with a lounge for approximately 65 people upstairs (inside) with an exterior deck for more patrons. In a unique floor plan, the brewhouse will be visible from above through our “beer portal”. The lounge will be a community hub, and will be family friendly (ability to brew in-house root beer a plus!).

The Head Brewer will start 10 weeks ahead of the planned opening so that she/he is on site for the arrival of the brewing system and subsequent set up. This will also give the person time to order recipe ingredients for the busy summer season.

You will have a well-rounded knowledge of brewing and beer types, and upon opening will produce 4-6 core beers with evolving and revolving other beer types. For the foreseeable future there are no plans to bottle or can (Crowlers are a possibility) for distribution other than through keg accounts. The Head Brewer will manage an assistant brewer for most of the year. You will be integral to the success of this business. No pressure...

The successful candidate will be passionate about craft beer and eager to experiment. You will be excited to see people enjoy the fruits of your labours and will happily answer the same questions about ingredients over and over. You geek out over the science of brewing and will lead the development of a small lab once we get to know how we can work with our brewing space.

You will report directly to the Owner/General Manager.
