Position: The District of Tofino is looking for qualified candidates to fill two positions of Temporary Labourer under the Engineering and Public Works Department from May 13, 2019 to September 13, 2019 (start date negotiable). There may be an opportunity to extend the work period up to an additional twelve weeks.
Under the direct supervision of his/her immediate supervisor the Temporary Labourer is responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled public works duties. These duties are generally physical in nature and require the use of simple tools and equipment. The majority of the duties are carried out in outdoor conditions.

Hours of Work & Salary: The wage is $23.11 per hour plus 14.8% in lieu of vacation time and benefits (after successful completion of a 60 day probation period the base wage increases to $25.68 per hour). The work week is a flexible 40 hours per week including work on Saturdays and Sundays. As this position is included in the Union (CUPE Local 118), all terms and conditions of employment will be governed by the terms of the Collective Agreement.
