Community Food Support Worker

Position: Community Food Support Worker – Summer Student or Youth

Two Positions are available

• $15 per hour

• Minimum 10 hours per week, opportunity up to 30 hours per week.

• Approximately June to September (flexible for school if applicable).

• There may be opportunities for casual work ongoing past the summer

About TUCG

The Tofino Ucluelet Culinary Guild (TUCG) is a non-profit, member run, social enterprise organization that works to connect our communities’ restaurants, families and grocery stores with local farmers and food producers.  Through group buying and education we strive to make local food more accessible and affordable while at the same time providing a reliable market for some of our region’s best producers.  In the past 8 years we have become one of the province’s most dynamic food hubs, which includes wholesale distribution, online ordering for residents, a local food box program as well as participating in various west coast markets.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for energetic and organized people to support our weekly farm- direct food distribution program. You will have an opportunity to support multiple aspects such as assisting with produce distribution and deliveries, organizing our weekly family box program, helping at farm market booths, doing community outreach and social media, and learning small business skills. This position is ideal for someone interested in socially purposed business, small scale food systems, and community development. We encourage youth to apply! There are a few shifts, flexible based on availability of applicants and their location. These include:

• Wednesday day and evening in Tofino

• Thursdays day and evening in Tofino

• Thursday day and evening in Ucluelet

• Saturday at the Tofino Public Market

• Sunday at the Ucluelet Sunday Market
