Position type:  Chapter Assistant Summer Internship

Time period: July/August or potentially July-September, depending on applicant availability

Hours:15-25 hrs/wk, flexible depending on applicant availability

Rate of pay: Rate is negotiable and based on relevant experience

Location: Work will be primarily carried out at the Surfrider office at the Tofino Botanical Gardens Ecolodge

Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical support to core crew with the delivery of all programs and campaigns, including but not limited to:
    • HOTYB canister maintenance and cigarette butt recycling support
    • Remote tasks such as printing and postering, equipment transfer and cleaning, etc
    • LYBC events in Ahousaht, Tofino, and Ucluelet
    • Public Meet Up events in Tofino and Ucluelet
    • Summertime event coordinator and adverting support, and support on the day of events
  • Maintenance and inventory of Surfrider resources and storage, including but not limited to: 
    • Updating and cleaning the “love your beach clean” kits 
    • Picking up and dropping off rented equipment
    • Keeping the office clean and organized 
  • Support administration tasks, amending community events, assisting with social media 
  • Conducting research and Creating how-to packs for Surfrider Pacific Rim campaigns and programs, in order to share best practices and contribute to the Ocean Friendly Corridor initiative.
  • Contribute skills, experience, and interests to enrich and develop Surfrider Pacific Rim (e.g. photography, videography, content wring etc).
  • Attends Core Crew meetings every month

Qualifications 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with all of Surfrider Foundation Pacific Rim programs & campaigns
  • Become a Surfrider Foundation member https://pacificrim.surfrider.org/become-a-member/
  • Organized and can dedicate his/her me to accomplish all tasks
  • Confident communicator, team member, and public speaker
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Google docs & calendar, mailchimp and WordPress
  • Uses popular social media: Facebook, Instagram
  • Preferably, holds BC drivers license, has access to a vehicle, and is willing to use their vehicle for chapter operations, however, this is negotiable for a strong candidate with other means of transportation
