We are an independent cafe and bakery in Ucluelet serving breakfast, lunch and very good coffee; we’re looking for a personable and passionate individual with a keen interest in speciality coffee and baked goods to join us as our cafe supervisor. Candidates need to have worked in a catering or similar environment and have staff management experience. Barista experience is highly desirable.

  • Work closely with the head chef, cafe manager and baking team on a regular basis to manage costing, staff, schedules & procedures
  • Provide staff training in all aspects of front of house duties when and where required
  • Maintain records of sales, wastage and stock
  • Process orders with suppliers to maintain and develop lines of sales
  • Supervise all front of house staff in their duties to maintain customer service and Health and Hygiene Standards
  • Take catering and cake orders
  • Be fully aware of budgeted sales targets, and communicate with the team in order that this is used to achieve/supersede sales
  • Always look to see ways to improve activities or reduce costs.
  • To ensure that the preparation of food is carried out to specification is fresh and presented correctly front of house.
  • To ensure that the coffee shop, bakery and service areas are clean, tidy and attractive during opening times.
  • Be the lead for all aspects of the coffee station including training baristas, recording and ordering stock levels and maintaining coffee standards.
  • Keep coffee equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Key holding - securing cash/company property
  • Cash handling - cashing up and producing end-of-day till; managing daily floats
  • Delegates responsibilities and practices to team to ensure smooth flow of operations with input and guidance from Restaurant General Manager
  • Perform other essential duties as required
  • Relief work for kitchen staff when necessary
Qualifications 

This is a full time, permanent position in a very busy environment. The right candidate will need to be fully flexible across our working hours to include weekends. In return we offer a competitive salary depending on age and experience, and training. The position is best suited to an individual looking to take their experience further.

Completion of secondary school

Any education or training in the hospitality industry is an advantage but not necessary.

Supervisory experience preferably in hospitality: 1 year (Required)

Barista: 1 year (Preferred)

Hospitality experience preferably in a similar setting: 2 year (Required)
