Job Summary

The Staff Accommodation Manager, under the direction of the General Manager, will primarily be responsible to ensure all appropriate workplace regulations, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. This position will ensure that safe work practices are being followed. This role will also ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal. The Staff Accommodation Manager must possess a degree or an advanced degree in hospitality or a field related to the industry and two years of experience in a management role.

Competencies

  • Accountability - Takes ownership of workloads and assigns workloads to others. 
  • Coaching - Coaches other staff and residents of Staff accommodation to look after the facility, respect the facility as well as all other residents within staff accommodation. Defusing unwanted situations,, and placing the right control measures to ensure and safe and quiet living environment. 
  • Communication - Continues to communicate with the residents about changes, communicates effectively through strong dialogue, memos, and updated tenancy agreements. Works with the accounting/administration team to ensure that we are up to date on statistical information. 
  • Conflict Management - Foresees potential conflict and takes preventative steps. Handles conflict when it arises; and reports conflicts to the General Manager. Will conduct verbal and written warnings to the staff/tenants as required. 
  • Cooperation - Works with others to prevent conflict. Works together to achieve some common goals. Creating a community environment, negating unwanted behaviors and not promoting the use of substances such as Alcohol.
  • Decision Making - Makes concrete, well-informed and thought-out decisions that support the overall organization. Has the ability to make quick, effective decisions, and may have to respond to emergency type situations. Always thinking ahead and taking proactive approaches rather than reactive. 
  • Leadership - Works well with a wide range of individuals to provide support, coaching, encouragement, and direction. Ensures staff housing is well maintained, clean, sanitary and reports all deficiencies. 

 

Job Duties

  • Manages all “Tenancy Agreements”
  • Provides orientation to all new employees.
  • Ensure accommodation standards, and company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Ensure that safe work practices are being followed. cleaning duties, fixing, repairing and reporting damages of the staff accommodation. 
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Evaluate employee behavior  and provide feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations. Verbal and written warnings may be issued from time to time. Terminating a tenancy may also be required from time to time. 
  • Oversee inspections of property and services to ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other environmental impacts
  • Attend to staff complaints, ensure building is safe and maintained at all times
  • Coordinate activities at staff accommodation from time to time
  • Maintain shift schedules to ensure manager coverage in staff accommodation is covered at all times. 
  • Oversee staff and or any contracted sub trades to ensure that all required jobs are done correctly and effectively 
  • Participate and conduct routine inspections
Qualifications 

Job Requirements

  • Two years of experience in a hospitality setting & housing management.
  • Strong formal and informal leadership skills
  • Experience with coaching and employee development
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees. You must possess a strong positive attitude. 
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress.
  • Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations or emergencies.
  • Manage the facility 5 consecutive days per week, and cross over shifts with your cross shift to ensure full coverage at all times. Flexible schedule and on call required.
