Job Summary:

The Manager is responsible for the management and operation of the Connections and Semi-Independent Living Skills programs. She/he will be able to work effectively with a variety of professionals, other staff and have excellent rapport with community members. The Manager works with staff to ensure that program planning and program development meet the needs of the clients served. The Manager ensures that programs meet CLBC and CARF standards.

Qualifications 

A) Education/Training

Required:

  • Degree in Social Services discipline Psychology or Sociology or combination of education and experience
  • Training and experience in management and leadership from a recognized provider
  • Training in the area of program planning

Desired:

  • Training and experience in person-centered planning
  • Training in personal health management

B) Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum five years-experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • Three years of prior staff management experience
  • One year of experience working with union issues
  • One year of experience in assessment, program design, evaluation and planning

Desired:

  • Experience working in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated knowledge of community based programs and related provincial and community support systems.

C) Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Excellent organizational, time management, general management, and planning skills.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

D) Other Requirements:

  • First Aid Certificate & CPR
  • Criminal Record Search
  • Valid Class 4 B.C. Driver’s license
  • Use of personal vehicle
