Details 

(Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling, Empowerment)

Purpose:         To deliver the PEACE program to children age 3-18
Site:                 Main office of ACAWS
Skills:              

  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with a variety of staff from educational and legal authorities, and  other members of the community
  • To provide psycho-educational counselling to children and youth who have witnesses abus.
  • Ability to recognize when help is needed and seek it out
  • Able to work independently under supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • Effective computer skills and desire to stay current
  • Knowledge of the First Nations in the Alberni Valley
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to problem solve and effectively manage time
  • Ability to deliver a set program paced to each individual child served

 

Qualifications 

Education:     

  • Minimum diploma or Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care or equivalent and completion, along with other relevant courses and workshops
  • At least three years’ work experience in the field
  • Experience or recent specialized training in child/youth trauma and/or abuse
