North Island College is seeking a qualified instructor for the Motor Sport and Power Equipment Technician Foundation program at our Campbell River Campus. Responsibilities include teaching pre-apprentice students to provincial outcomes and standards following the ITA requirements for Motorcycle and Power Equipment Technician Level 1, as well as teaching apprentices in technical training classes. Instruction will be delivered online and face-to-face (blended). Other responsibilities include program development and lesson planning, tool and equipment maintenance, and liaison with regional employers.

Qualifications 

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Completed an apprenticeship in either occupation and have the Certificate of Qualification for Power Equipment and/or Red Seal endorsement for Motorcycle Mechanic
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in industry with demonstrated diverse Motorcycle & Power Equipment industry experience as journeyperson
  • Experience teaching post-secondary courses in online, and blended/hybrid learning environments
  • Completion of the Provincial Instructors Diploma program
  • Familiarity with the Motorcycle Mechanic (Motorcycle & Power Equipment Technician) program outlines
  • Experience setting up training programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with a variety of learning technologies and digital tools
  • Demonstrated excellent instructional abilities, using creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning, including the use of instructional technologies within an online learning environment
  • Experience with blended learning, ability to build online theory components in a learning platform, ability to translate face-to-face content delivery
  • Able to choose and use appropriate learning technologies, troubleshoot issues and support learners while engaged in an online or blended course environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and co-operatively in a team environment with online faculty, coordinators, online student groups, employers and staff
