Alberni Valley Drug & Alcohol Prevention Service is looking for a dynamic Youth and Family Addictions Counsellor to complement their service delivery team. The ideal candidate will have clinical skill, a commitment to Trauma Informed Practice and will be culturally safe working with diverse populations. A working knowledge of substance misuse, assessment, treatment strategies and holistic models of recovery are essential. Training in Motivational Interviewing or Brief Interventions is considered an asset
This position requires a qualification of a B.A. in a Health or Human Service field, plus 3 years recent experience working with at-risk populations. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a Masters’ Degree in a relevant field and to candidates with experience serving youth who present with mental health or co-occurring concerns.

The ability to be organized, flexible, and an unwavering commitment to ethical practice is paramount. The right candidate will be able to make a positive contribution to all manner of operations and service delivery at our site.
