Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning of commercial spaces, including floors, windows, restrooms, and common areas

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Either possess or be able to obtain a BC Security Workers Licence (Ask us!)
• Valid driver's licence and own vehicle preferred
• Must have flexible availability for a variety of shifts - some include overnights
• The ability to interact with people in a compassionate and respectful manner
• A calm demeanor and sound decision-making skills
• Strong observation skills and ability to complete high-quality reports
• Ability to use computers and smartphones with ease
• Physically fit with the ability to stand and walk patrols, climb stairs, etc.

• Must be proficient in the English language (verbal & written)
• Willingness to travel to Parksville and Qualicum for shifts in those communities on occasion is an asset

Static Security Guard - General Responsibilities

• Provide a security presence in various settings (Offices, Malls, Parks, Events, etc...)
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients and the public
• Ensure client property and personnel are safe and secure
• Conduct foot patrols, including standing and walking and security inspections for assigned facilities
• Interact with a wide range of people in varied environments

Certified Dental Assistant

The Valley Dental team located in Port Alberni, BC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Dental Assistant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. Our clinic offers a comfortable, modern workspace in a supportive team environment. We have 2 dentists, 3 hygienists, 4 dental assistants, and 3 administrative staff.

The CDA will provide chairside assistance to the dentist during dental procedures and perform various tasks to ensure smooth operations in the dental office. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and have a solid understanding of dental procedures and terminology.

Tasks would include:

• Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing instruments, maintaining patient comfort, and ensuring a sterile environment
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits, including sterilizing instruments and setting up equipment
• Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
• Provide post-operative instructions to patients and answer any questions or concerns they may have
• Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medical history

Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
• X-ray certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or coronal polishing are a plus
• Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

•Work in collaboration with MCFD, CLBC, VIHA, Mental Health Services, Community Supports, Outreach Teams, Harm Reduction Workers, Cultural Supports, Knowledge Keepers, Schools, Behavior Consultants, stakeholders and partners.

•Demonstrate a high degree of tolerance and respect for a supported individual's unique personality and challenges, while promoting one's dignity and rights

•To support and promote a friendly and effective working relationship with support individual, family and team members.

•Apply crisis intervention and risk management strategies.

•Assists with case management documentation by identifying strengths and potential challenges; contributes to the evaluation of the individual’s progress and prepares reports.

•Organize household tasks (meal planning, food purchasing and preparation, house cleaning, basic maintenance)

•Implement individuals' daily schedule, including transporting individuals to and from appointments, school, monitoring progress and supporting at-home learning

•Administer medications as per policy
