The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s is seeking a term (to March 31, 2021) fulltime, Capital Project Advisor II (CPA 2) to assist First Nations with their community-based GIS and Mapping projects. Based out Port Alberni, the CPA 2 will serve as a resource person, advisor and monitor to support First Nation efforts to maintain accurate and detailed maps of their assets and territory. This position is subject to annual renewal funding.

Responsibilities will include:
 Assist the CPA 1 with coordination/implementation of GIS and maintenance management software initiatives across the region.
 Establishing lines of communication with all parties throughout the lifecycle of new and existing assets, conducting quality control activities, inspections, generating deficiency lists for assets and provide advice and/or guidance to the First Nations as directed.
 Assist the CPA 1 in creating and maintaining the geographic information database by entering and editing graphic and non-graphic data from source maps and related documentation into the computer using a graphics work station and related equipment; produces hard copy base, legal, and related maps and reports from the computer as scheduled or as required.
 Data collection using GPS units
 Participates in setting priorities on user service requests; makes recommendations regarding the development, alteration or refinement of the geographic system’s capabilities to better meet departmental requirements.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
 Grade 12 or GED plus diploma in a cartography/GIS or a construction related field or equivalent combination of training/working knowledge and a minimum of two-years’ of relevant experience.
 Have a working knowledge of National and BC Building Codes
 Have a working knowledge of construction sites/equipment, and WCB safety measures to ensure compliance with all safety regulations
 Have excellent negotiation, problem-solving, presentation and communication skills, and have the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders
 Possess advanced computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS Desktop, Auto-Cad Map, Access. Other software assets would include ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and CityWorks.
 A valid BC driver’s licence and vehicle is required, and ability to travel to the First Nations is required
 Must provide an acceptable criminal record check

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
 A certificate in applied data analytics and 3 - 5 years of direct experience
 Demonstrated ability working with databases, and highly proficient in software applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PPT, Access and Outlook) and experience with data based software
 Able to act with tact and diplomacy, meet deadlines, uphold confidentiality, and maintain effective working relationships
 Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Able to work independently, multi-task, prioritize workload, and plan activities to meet tight deadlines

Summary

The Port Alberni Friendship Center is looking for Early Childhood Educators to work on a Casual Basis which may lead to Full Time Basis. The Early Childhood Educator reports to the Childcare Manager and will be part of a team that will plan and implement a culturally based child care program that is designed to give each child an opportunity to participate in experiences that will enable them to reach their full potential. The ECE will provide nurturing care and education to young children from infancy to preschool age in a group setting, supporting parents through on going communication about each child’s development. Specific Duties

  • Responsible for the continuous supervision, safety and well-being of the children
  • Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques
  • Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing and implementing stimulating, culturally based, age-appropriate activities that encourage children’s creativity and learning and promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
  • Participates fully and consistently as a conscientious team member in caring for the children and in the overall operation of the program and centre; maintains regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers
  • Establishes and maintains regular communication with parents
  • Ensures the program operates at all times in compliance with all child care licensing standards
  • Must know and implement: Centre routines and practices; BC’s Child Day Care Regulation and Standards of Practice
  • Observes and records relevant information on each child's progress as required/as per Centre practices
  • Attends and participates actively in all program/centre, parental or other meetings as required
  • Shares responsibility for maintaining program equipment in good repair; assists with toy/equipment disinfectint
  • Shares responsibility for maintaining the play environments and storage areas in an organized and clutter-free condition. Participates in regular fire drills and other emergency procedures
  • Engages in positive collaboration with the other programs and early childhood educators of the centre in coordinating the effective use of equipment, facilities and personnel
  • Participates in ongoing professional development and attends/maintains all mandatory training
  • Participates in the supervision, training and mentoring of students and supply teachers
  • Assists the Child Care Manager in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by promptly reporting any existing and/or potential workplace hazards
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Child Care Manager or her/his designate
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Early Childhood Education/Development certificate or diploma, with a BC Five Year Early Childhood Educator Certificate
  • Three to five years’ experience in the child care profession and/or an Aboriginal organization or community working with children and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and initiative Creative problem solving skills Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Knowledge of Nuu-chah-nulth history and culture is an assetAwareness of social issues affecting First Nations and non-First Nations children

Statement of Purpose: Huu-ay-aht First Nations is looking for a contract coordinator to provide technical administrative assistance to two working groups: “Quality Assurance Working Group (QAWG)” and the “Social Services Implementation Task Force (Task Force)”. Background Information 
 
In 2016, the Huu-ay-aht First Nations government appointed a panel of experts to research and identify the issues and concerns regarding child protection matters with its citizens. The Panel put forth a strategy consisting of 30 recommendations to implement with the goal of keeping Huu-ay-aht children with their families, building family strength and resiliency, and ensure that staff are taking a holistic approach to providing support to these families. Through the recommendations (16, 22) we have identified members of the “Quality Assurance Working Group (QAWG)” and the “Social Services Implementation Task Force (Task Force)”. These groups require a coordinator to provide assistance on a variety of tasks including but not limited to: organizing meetings, maintaining records, writing correspondence and reports, and ensuring connections between the two groups are maintained. Scope of Work 

Technical assistance to the QAWG: 

  • Initially provide assistance in establishment of the QAWG, including coordinating with provincial and delegated agency representatives as required
  • Organize meetings for the QAWG (logistics, meeting invitees), monthly or more frequently as directed
  • Draft and distribute materials: agendas, minutes, and reports as required and consistent with HFN legislation
  • Compile and submit reports of the QAWG to the Task Force.

Deliverables The Contractor will deliver the following as part of the performances of the Contracted Services: 
Administrative and technical expertise up to 80 hours per month.

Term of Contract 
To begin immediately – October 30, 2018 – March 31, 2019 (with potential for extension) 
Payments Payment schedule will be based on submitted invoices with tax information clearly identified to be billed monthly.

Evaluation and Award Process

Description:
