We are looking for a Project Coordinator to work out of our
office in Ucluelet.

$50,000-$70,000 Annually for a qualified candidate, willing to train the right person without qualifications but wage will reflect this. 

JOB SUMMARY

This is a permanent, full-time position. This position reports to the Manager of Recreation & Tourism, in accordance with sound practice and applicable policies, objectives and community facility requirements.

The incumbent is responsible for cleaning and maintaining District of Ucluelet’s facilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Principle Responsibilities

• Cleaning of District facilities.
• Regular cleaning of washrooms throughout the District.
• General maintenance of District Facilities as required.
• Assists with Special Events set-up and clean-up.
• Assists with but not limited to set-up and take down for all programs, meeting and events.
• Carry out work orders associated with District facilities.
• Collection sorting and appropriate disposal of recycling materials.
• Monitoring janitorial and sanitary supplies for all facilities and preparing supply orders.
• Keep all janitorial rooms clean, neat and organized at all times.
• Other duties as required.

DESCRIPTION: Our SVOP Skippers are responsible for operating tours in Clayoquot and/or Barkley Sound. Skippers run our 12-passenger vessels in a safe & secure manner, while delivering an exciting and educational tour to our guests who travel across the globe to see our local wildlife. Full-time and part-time seasonal positions available(March-October.)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assure pre-departure checks have been completed, including checks of engine, safety equipment, weather and appropriate route planning. Properly fuel-up, record voyages in logbooks and store equipment after use.
• Communicate any maintenance issues with Maintenance Team and work with them to resolve issues

• Safely navigate vessel for duration of tours (2.5-3 hours) in accordance with your certification and the ‘rules of the road’. Ensure that all marine, environmental and wildlife viewing guidelines are being met and or exceeded
• Provide outstanding interpretation for guests in relation to local ecosystems and wildlife, all whilst focussed on guest safety and comfort
• Contribute to photos, videos, and data to our research partners
• Take part in crew training sessions

Comfort First Early Learning offers Emergent Curriculum programing with our GCC (30 mon - 5 year),

and infant and Toddler rooms. We schedule 5 - 6 weeks off annually and offer professional and team building. It is the companies goal to exceed child to educator ratios.

You understand that cancer can change everything and that accessing critical programs and services creates a whole new level of community. You recognize that the Wheels of Hope program requires flexibility, as we respond to the continually changing schedules of current clients and other drivers. You enjoy meeting a variety of people and have the patience to deal with the times you may be waiting for a client to finish treatment. You can represent CCS positively as you interact with members of the public and are a guest in facilities like Hospitals, Cancer Centres and Lodges. You are ready to do your best to make a client’s ride to treatment one less thing they have to worry about, allowing them the space and focus to handle their journey in their own way. You are comfortable using online tools, like email and our scheduling software. You have a valid driver’s license with 3 or fewer demerit points and an acceptable driving record. You carry a minimum of $1M third party liability insurance on your 100% smoke-free vehicle and are willing to have a criminal records check, and regular driver abstract checks.

• This is an important leadership role. We ask that you dedicate at minimum a half day to one day weekly, although we can accommodate those able to give a few days a month or during times of the year (i.e. summer months, winter months).

• Your schedule will be provided three (2) days ahead of time and will depend on busy days/periods, your preferences and client demand. If you’re not getting as many rides as you’re available to take, we ask you to contact your Transportation Coordinator to discuss changing your availability.

• You are agreeing to initiate and respond with regular, consistent communication between the Transportation Coordinator, clients you are scheduled to drive and other partners including other Wheels of Hope drivers.

• As a volunteer, you are a representative and ambassador who promotes the mission and value of the organization.

Duties include: 

• Maintaining the lumber yard
• Loading and unloading orders
• Providing customer service
• Cutting wood and using a variety of tools
• Driving forklifts  (Training will be provided)

Client-led contract to provide community inclusion support to clients with special needs. Work involves direct client support to develop life skills and social integration, or as directed by CLBC assessment. Work may occur in the client’s home or in the community. This position requires union membership.
