POSITION SUMMARY:

Oversees all guest services operations, including front desk, reservations, PBX and transportation services to ensure quality and guest satisfaction. Good through knowledge of property management software (PMS) or hotel reservation software.

GSM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trains new Guest Services department personnel.
  • Answers inquires regarding rates and availability.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the room rack locations types of rooms, room rack operations, package plans, hotel facilities.
  • Maintains a detailed knowledge about the hotel's services and hours of operations.
  • Display a pro-active and leading role in terms of service, culture, development, team image, systems, procedures and skill development.
  • Take reservations using the hotel reservation system, ensuring maximum occupancy and rates are obtained.
  • Check guests in and out, including preparation of guest bills and authorizing payments.
  • Responsible for cash handling including float and banking.
  • Dealing efficiently with day to day billing and guest service queries.
  • Report anything considered a health and safety hazard.
  • Using information available, plan and control both the preparation of future shifts and effective communication to the team.
  • To act as a duty manager for the hotel, ensuring all guests are satisfied, both internal and external.
  • Allocation of all rooms to include, special requests, sofa bed rooms and any other requirements as directed .
  • Be flexible at all times in order to cover the unexpected needs of the Hotel and outlets.
  • Knows all safety and understands emergency procedures and how to act upon them. Understands accident prevention policies.
  • Knows cash handling procedures. Files and posts all changes to guest master and city ledger account.
  • Good understanding about the Property management software (PMS).
  • Anticipates and intervenes in all incidents of guest dissatisfaction and attempts to satisfy all such guests, within hotel policy.
  • Service recovery procedures.
  • Assist General Manager in assigned tasks

 

 

Qualifications

Education: Minimum two year college degree or related experience.

Experience: Minimum one year of hotel front desk supervisory experience, experience handling cash, accounting procedures, and general administrative tasks.

Creative Salmon is Canada’s first producer of certified organic farm-raised salmon, growing indigenous Pacific Chinook salmon at 4 farm sites in the waters of Clayoquot Sound near Tofino.

Farm Technicians are responsible for general farm operations such as net cleaning, basic maintenance, assistance during harvesting, feeding and care of fish, operating boats and equipment, as well as other tasks. As the majority of the work is performed outdoors, the ability to tolerate all weather conditions is important.

Because farming is a team effort, reliability and dependable attendance is mandatory. 

As well as a competitive wage, after a three month probationary period, we offer a company paid benefits package. Crew transportation is provided from Ucluelet, Tofino and Long Beach communities.

Qualifications

Previous experience in an aquaculture or marine setting is an asset, but on-the-job training is provided.

Jobs at Creative Salmon are full-time, year-round; 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. We do not offer overnight on-site camp accommodation; we go home every night. Local housing is the employee’s responsibility.

JOB SUMMARY
 
Assists the Front Office Manager in administering front office functions and supervising staff on a daily basis. Front office areas include housekeeping, maintenance, laundry, Guest Services/Front Desk. Position directs and works with managers and employees to carry out procedures ensuring an efficient check in and check out process. Ensures guest and employee satisfaction and maximizes the financial performance of the department.
 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 2 years experience in the guest services, front desk, or related professional area.
OR
2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; no work experience required.
 
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
 
Maintaining Guest Services and Front Desk Goals
Consistent & Transparent Communication with Employers:
  • Employee agrees to attend weekly staff meetings
  • Operations: Laundry, Front desk
  • Human resources: Employee will communicate with employers on staff progress reports, wage raise suggestions, appreciation days, hiring and terminating. HR decisions should be collectively decided between Employee and Employer and Employee must get final authorization from Employer.
Laundry:
  • Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing in office/lobby area
  • Ensure all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards
  • Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies
  • Notify superiors on any damages, deficits and disturbances
  • Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
  • Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace when appropriate
  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices
  • Employee may be scheduled for laundry job while working front desk when the laundry room is build behind office area
  • Room checks when necessary before housekeepers leave
Front Desk:
Essential Functions:
  • Deals with guest bookings over the phone, fax and in person. Must have exceptional selling and negotiating skills.
  • Checks in guest in an efficient and friendly manner, using guest name whenever possible. Assures that guest is assigned type of room requested and the correct rate is charged. Issues correct keys to the guest.
  • Checks out guest at end of stay. Ascertains guest satisfaction, collects keys, posts late charges and presents bill to guest. Settles bill accurately through credit card or cash transaction. Reconciles all transactions at the close of each shift.
  • Handles all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible; resolves customer complaints; assists customers in all inquiries in connection with hotel services, hours of operations, key hotel personnel, in-house events, directions, etc. Responds to all guest requests in an accurate and timely manner. Interaction with guest will be in person and by phone.
  • Utilizes a variety of computer systems to check guests in and out, run daily reports and select and block rooms for arriving guests.

  • Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Accepts reservations, changes and cancellations. Can answer guest calls and direct them appropriately.
  • Making sure all cancellation payments are checked and charged daily
  • Track employee time sheets and hours and submit to excel file
  • Administer group bookings
  • Answer Tour operator emails and emails
Non-essential Functions:
  • Initiate responsibilities and duties of tidying lobby area and hotel exterior during slow periods
  • Provides basic trouble-shooting support for in-room services such as Internet, TV and Web service.

  • Create and maintain strong client relationships
  • Respond to customer complaints via direct in person contact, email, phone or online review platforms.
  • Provides services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed.

  • Trains staff and monitors adherence to all credit policies and procedures to reduce bad debts and rebates.
  • Supervises same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and control property occupancy.
  • Supervises daily Front Desk shift operations and ensures compliance with all policies, standards and procedures.
  • Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and support the Peer Review Process.
Supporting Human Resource Activities
  • Supports the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Solicits employee feedback, utilizes an “open door” policy and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.
  • Brings issues concerning employee satisfaction to the attention of the department manager and Human Resources.
  • Assists as needed in the interviewing and hiring of employee team members with the appropriate skills.
  • Supports a departmental orientation program for employees to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A secondary school diploma is preferred
  • First Aid training considered an asset

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Ensuring cellblock keys are tagged and stored safely.
  • Monitoring all prisoners to ensure their security and well-being.
  • Observing or checking prisoners frequently and irregularly. This may include the use of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
  • Monitoring prisoners known to have or suspected of having suicidal tendencies.
  • Recording prisoner activity and maintaining the prisoner activity logbook.
  • Maintaining cellblock security.
  • Ensuring all personal effects removed from prisoners by RCMP members are properly secured.
  • Reporting any damages or repairs of fixtures and fittings within cellblock.
  • Performing escort duties as required for specific detachments.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A demonstrated ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Basic level computer skills.
  • Must hold a valid OFA1 and CPR qualification prior to commencing work in the position.
  • Vision: Visual standards are RCMP-V4 (eye glasses are permitted).
  • Must be able to use both hands, occasionally manipulate / lift up to 20 kilograms, bend at the waist and climb stairs without restrictions or the use of assistance devices.
