Ucluelet Consumers Co-operative Association invites applications for the position of Meat Cutter.

 

As a Meat Cutter with the Ucluelet Co-op, you are responsible for cutting and preparing meat for sale by performing various duties, such as weighing meat, wrapping it, and putting it out for display. You will assist the Meat Manager with all operations of the meat department with annual sales over one million.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude

  • Sharpen and adjust cutting equipment
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery

  • Store meats in refrigerators or freezers at the required temperature
  • Keep inventory of meat sales and order meat supplies

Position: The District of Tofino is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full-time regular position of General Foreman in the Public Works Department.  
 
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering and Public Works, the General Foreman will be responsible for the supervision of Public Works employees, maintaining District facilities and fleet, infrastructure, material purchasing, safety and will work with managers and employees to coordinate operational and maintenance schedules.  The General Foreman must demonstrate superior management ability and leadership qualities to provide assistance to the Public Works team.  Responsibilities will include providing direction and support to team members in the performance of their duties, as required, to meet service expectations, departmental goals and objectives.  Other responsibilities will include the performance of maintenance and technical tasks related to the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewaters systems in support of maintenance and construction operations.  The General Foreman shall possess a highlevel of knowledge for the use of appropriate construction methods, selection of materials, site selection and timelines required for various engineering projects while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Hours of Work & Salary: 

This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 118) based on a 40 hour work week. The starting hourly salary is $38.62, however, the District will consider applicants who meet the minimum requirements but do not have all of the requisite certifications. The salary will be increased as each level of certification is reached in accordance with the Tier scale set below: 

  • Tier 1 - $29.95 per hour – meets minimum requirements but not all requisite certifications. 
  • Tier 2 - $35.35 per hour – meets Tier 1 requirements and has the following certifications: Water Treatment Level I, Water Distribution Level l and Wastewater Collection Level l. 
  • Tier 3 - $38.62 per hour – meets Tier 1 and 2 requirements and has the following certifications: Water Treatment Level Il, Water Distribution Level ll and Wastewater Collection Level ll.

The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 200 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. Ucluelet Co-op invites applications for the position of Asset Protection Manager.

Ucluelet Co-op is a dynamic Retail Co-operative with sales in excess of $18 million dollars. Based on the fundamental principles of co-operation, we are locally invested, community-minded, and offer lifetime membership benefits.

As the Asset Protection Manager with Ucluelet Co-op you will be responsible for preventing financial loss from theft and fraud. This role will ensure that all company policies, local, provincial and federal laws are adhered to in the execution of internal and external theft investigations or inquiries. You will work with department managers and all staff to ensure objectives are clearly communicated and executed. 

 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PILLARS
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

Operations:

  • Provide direction to ensure the Ucluelet Co-op has acquired the appropriate BC Security Licensing required to employ an Asset Protection Manager position.
  • Provide evidence at arbitration hearings and civil proceedings on team member investigations;
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to drive Asset Protection Excellence through comprehensive Asset Protection Initiatives;
  • Remain current with all federal and provincial legislation and regulations, and keep department managers informed of all changes and amendments in a timely fashion;
  • Insure the Ucluelet Co-op is in full compliance with all applicable legislation, and that it’s team members are informed and properly trained to abide by local laws relating to Asset Protection initiatives;
  • Ensure Asset Protection Administrative standards are met; 
  • Work with Managers to ensure minimal store inventory shrink levels that are achieved;
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Asset Protection Manual containing current Co-op asset protection policies, procedures, standards, and check-lists;
  • Work closely and build rapport with local law enforcement;
  • Conduct periodic Asset Protection and Security audits on building security, internal controls, and support Co-op policies and procedures by ensuring compliance and implementing improvements. Advise senior management of any concerns;
  • Keep current on Asset Protection technology and implement strategies; and
  • Ensure all security equipment is in good repair (Alarm, CCTV, locks, etc.).
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and urgent issues as they arise.

People:

  • Identify courses, clinics, and seminars both inside and outside the CRS that would improve skills and knowledge of the Asset Protection Manager, and the Ucluelet Co-op team members.
  • Work with the Human Resources Department to provide Asset Protection training for all team members;
  • Educate all team members on Co-op expectations regarding team member safety relating to asset protection occurrences;
  • Consistently communicate with all team members to drive awareness of inventory shortage results, shortage concerns and strategy initiatives; 

Finance/Sustainability:

  • Complete incident reports on, and conduct investigations for, internal and external fraud, theft, and other criminal offences;
  • Testify in criminal court as required, and provide support to team members who may also be required to testify;
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures to store population;
  • Identify operational deficiencies as they relate to Asset Protection and apply effective solutions to mitigate risks;
  • Ensure insurance claims are prepared with follow-up to completion; and
  • Ensure daily operational checks are completed and inefficiencies handled in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Loss Prevention Designation (CPP, CFI, CFE, LPQ or LPC) and/or Commerce or Business Degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of Asset Protection and/or Risk Management experience, preferably in the retail industry
  • Must be bondable, First Aid Certification Level 2
  • Must have or be readily able to acquire the BC Security Services License
  • Knowledgeable of provincial and federal law
  • Strong aptitude and knowledge of retail security systems, information systems and productivity software
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license as travel will be required
