Position Overview

We're seeking a personable, self-sufficient, and highly capable Relief Innkeeper to step in for
the regular innkeeper during a few select periods throughout the summer. This is a hands-on,
guest-facing role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, hospitality-focused environment
and enjoys working independently.

This role is ideal for someone looking for the flexibility of only a few select dates during the
summer. Approximate 4-10 days working per month,
 

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for guest groups during your shift. Providing checkin/
checkout, meals, and water taxi rides.
• Operate the water taxi to transport guests to and from the vessel (boating proficiency an
asset, but SVOP training will be provided)
• Prepare and serve daily meals (coffee/tea, breakfast and dinner; dessert). No kitchen
experience necessary. Majority of the position is daily food prep.
• Maintain cleanliness and order aboard the vessel, including guest cabins, common
areas, and kitchen
• Ensure a warm, welcoming atmosphere and deliver exceptional guest service
• Manage basic operational needs of the vessel during your shift

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and analyzes contracted services and functions on a daily basis.
  • Promotes effective and efficient performance and communications. 
  • Conducts weekly meetings to analyze and resolve work challenges and consistently communicates and cascades all company policies & procedures to team members.
  • Adheres and enforces company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Enforces company policies and procedures.
  • Performs annual performance assessment of directly reporting Team Members.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of all resort systems and operations.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company and the homeowners association. Participates in meetings and sits on the council.

  • Reviews monthly financials to make sure resort is operating in-line with budget and prepares monthly variance reports.
  • Completes full month-end reports, openly communicating challenges & solutions to upper management.
  • Adheres to and fosters Inspired Hospitality standards.
  • Tours the property daily; performs regular weekly inspection of the rooms and the property to ensure that superior quality for members and guests is adhered to.
  • Monitors the Front Desk to ensure team members adhere to QA standards, policies and foster genuine member/guest service.
  • Works with Inventory Control to maximize room inventory/utilization and revenue.
  • Corresponds with members and guests through written and verbal communications.
  • Assists members and guests as needed to resolve complaints in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and reviews Qualtrics scores and on-line reviews weekly/monthly. Effectively communicates results with superiors and critical stakeholders. Ensures that comments by members and guests are addressed on a daily basis.
  • Complies with corporate and brand standards & regulatory matters.
  • Negotiates contracts/lease agreements for outside services in conjunction with Corporate Legal.
  • Monitors and addresses the effectiveness & productivity of all contracted services.
  • Coordinates and supervises special projects to include renovations and remodels throughout the property in conjunction with Corporate Facilities Management.

  • Coordinates and plans preventive maintenance, deep cleaning, wall to wall extraction and any planned work in the rooms. 
  • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.
  • Proactively plans for the long term future of the resort.
  • Consistently practices and maintains the highest standards of professionalism when interacting with fellow team members, management, stakeholders, members and guests.
  • Completes all required company training and compliance courses as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary Degree in a Related Discipline (i.e. Business Administration, Political Science, First Nations Studies)
  • Prefer Post-Secondary Diploma or Formal training in Human Resource Management
  • Grade 12 with related Post-Secondary Courses (Desktop Publishing, Word Processing, Secretarial, Office Administration, Communications, and Budgeting)

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chairperson is also responsible to act as the Chairperson at all meetings of the Hitacu Assembly. Creative Salmon is Canada’s first producer of certified organic farm-raised salmon, growing Pacific Chinook salmon at 4 sites in the waters of Clayoquot Sound near Tofino.

Farm Technicians work five days out of seven. Sites are not camp-based; workers travel a short distance, by company boat, in and out each day. Company transportation to boat launch is also provided. Farm Techs are responsible for general farm operations such as net cleaning, basic maintenance, assistance during harvesting, feeding and care of fish, operating boats and equipment, environmental monitoring, as well as other tasks. Because farming is a team effort, reliability and dependable attendance is key.

Starting wage is $24.21 per hour going to $24.71 after 3 months. Company paid benefits package, paid sick days, safety gear and wellness spending allowance after the wait period (3 consecutive months).

Qualifications
Previous experience in an aquaculture or marine setting is an asset, but on-the-job training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assure pre-departure checks have been completed, including checks of engine, safety equipment, weather and appropriate route planning. Properly fuel-up, record voyages in logbooks and store equipment after use.
  • Communicate any maintenance issues with Maintenance Team and work with them to resolve issues
  • Safely navigate vessel for duration of tours (2.5-3 hours) in accordance with your certification and the ‘rules of the road’. Ensure that all marine, environmental and wildlife viewing guidelines are being met and or exceeded
  • Provide outstanding interpretation for guests in relation to local ecosystems and wildlife, all whilst focussed on guest safety and comfort
  • Contribute to photos, videos, and data to our research partners

Qualifications

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Knowledge and experience operating in coastal environments. Experience in Clayoquot and Barkley Sounds an asset.
  • Some knowledge and experience maintaining marine equipment and engines.
