The District of Ucluelet invites interested contractors or parties to submit written bids for the provision of janitorial services for the Ucluelet Community Centre located at 500 Matterson Drive, Ucluelet, BC. 

This contract will be a one-year term commencing October 1, 2017 and ending on September 30, 2018.  

Requirements:  

  1.  A monthly rate based on the duties in the schedules of the contract; and,
  2. Cleaning products and equipment necessary to carry out the duties of the contracts must be included in the bids.
  3. All cleaning products must be LEED certified.
  4. Include minimum particulars of staff qualifications, experience, references, security bonding, insurance, and WCB firm number.
  5. The successful bidder will be required to enter into a contract and make use of cleaning checklists.

The Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT) is seeking a full-time Communications and Office Coordinator to join our team. As a biosphere reserve and community foundation, we support the health and vitality of our communities and ecosystems. The successful applicant will help achieve our vision through this key front-line position.

We are seeking an outgoing and organized individual for a long-term office position. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the CBT under the direction of the Executive Director. This includes ensuring that the CBT is represented to the region, our board, our partners and our visitors in a professional and friendly manner, both in person and in all communications.

The coordinator is responsible for:

  • Arranging meeting logistics, assembling packages, recording minutes, setup/teardown of meetings and events, maintaining contact lists, records and electronic filing;
  • Financial reporting and accounting support, including bank deposits and preparation for cheque processing;
  • Providing administrative support for all granting, programs and staff;
  • Producing content and campaigns for all CBT platforms, including website, e-newsletter and social media;
  • Providing assistance to all visitors, including volunteers, grantees and donors; and
  • Maintaining an welcoming and functional office space 

The Communications and Office Coordinator will work in the Tofino office. Flexible working hours will be required in order to attend CBT Board and Committee meetings during evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in communications, office administration or a related discipline and two years of experience in communications, office administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience working with content management systems, e-newsletter software, social media tools and familiarity with office systems is required.

  • Strong writing skills for website content and e-newsletter
  • Social media content development, publishing and moderating
  • Basic photography skills and appreciation for brand style guides
  • Strong initiative and resourcefulness
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Huu-ay-aht First Nation Development Corporation (HDC) currently has multiple job posting in picturesque Bamfield, BC, situated on the Pacific Ocean and at the end of the world renowned West Coast Trail.  Bamfield is also home to the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre utilized by 5 Universities.  The environment and wildlife (including puffins, seals, whales, sea lions and plenty of fish) make this an ideal home for the marine centre.  Bamfield has some of the best fishing in the world.

11 new properties have been purchased in January 2016 by Huu-ay-aht First Nation Development Corporation, three (3) of which are tourism related, Bamfield Motel and Pub, Kingfisher Lodge and Oostrom House, in addition to its other multiple properties including Pachena Bay Campground, Bamfield Market and Café, HFN Forestry and HFN Gravel.  This allows for an immense opportunity for growth in various hospitality and other industries.  The long-term goal is to build a team to aid in the growth of Huu-ay-aht First Nations and Bamfield in both eco and aboriginal tourism.  Although these positions are currently seasonal, they may lead to year round employment. 

Accommodation may be provided for these positions at one of our various venues.
