Job Description

The Equipment & Logistics Manager is a contract-based role responsible for organizing, transporting, setting up, maintaining, and returning all event equipment and infrastructure for Long Shot Events productions. This role supports festival and event operations by managing inventory, coordinating load-in and load-out, overseeing on-site setup, and working closely with Ben (owner/operator) and the production team to ensure safe, efficient execution. Work is project-based with higher intensity around major events such as Pachena Bay Music Festival and Salty Hearts, in May and July. Compensation ranges from $25–$50/hour depending on experience and event budgets, with potential for ongoing contract work through Long Shot Rentals.

Job Requirments

  • Experience in live events, festivals, or production logistics (or strong willingness to learn)
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working hands-on with equipment
  • Ability to organize, transport, and set up event equipment efficiently
  • Comfortable managing inventory 
  • Class 5 driver’s license (Class 7 or 1 considered an asset)
  • Ability to work long days during peak event periods and stay calm under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with a production team
  • Commitment to safe work practices on-site

Approximately 32,000 people will be hired across Canada to assist in census data collection activities. When you work for Statistics Canada, you gain valuable work experience at one of the top statistical agencies in the world.  Crew leaders work full-time and schedules vary, with most of the work being in the evening and on weekends.

As a crew leader, you will:

DESCRIPTION: Our SVOP Skippers are responsible for operating tours in Clayoquot and/or Barkley Sound. Skippers run our 12-passenger vessels in a safe & secure manner, while delivering an exciting and educational tour to our guests who travel across the globe to see our local wildlife. Full-time and part-time seasonal positions available(March-October.)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assure pre-departure checks have been completed, including checks of engine, safety equipment, weather and appropriate route planning. Properly fuel-up, record voyages in logbooks and store equipment after use.
  • Communicate any maintenance issues with Maintenance Team and work with them to resolve issues
  • Safely navigate vessel for duration of tours (2.5-3 hours) in accordance with your certification and the ‘rules of the road’. Ensure that all marine, environmental and wildlife viewing guidelines are being met and or exceeded
  • Provide outstanding interpretation for guests in relation to local ecosystems and wildlife, all whilst focussed on guest safety and comfort
  • Contribute to photos, videos, and data to our research partners
  • Take part in crew training sessions
Qualifications

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Knowledge and experience operating in coastal environments. Experience in Clayoquot and Barkley Sounds an asset.
  • Some knowledge and experience maintaining marine equipment and engines.
  • Excellent communication skills: you will be passionate and knowledgeable about our local marine ecosystems, and keen to communicate this to guests.
  • Empathy and a drive to educate: We encounter guests from everywhere in the world with hugely differing expectations. You will be keen to meet them where they are in your drive to deliver outstanding interpretation.
  • Committed team player: our crew of skippers, naturalists and office staff always work together to deliver a high-quality customer experience, whilst prioritizing comfort and safety.
  • Ready to learn and continue professional development: crew are expected to attend on-going training and safety drills throughout the season

Middle Beach Lodge is looking for a Line Cook to complete our kitchen team. We feature a dining room that offers a variety of food items from our lounge menu.

The ideal candidate has previous kitchen experience, is reliable, has a strong attention to detail and is passionate about creating exceptional food! The line cook will work with others in a team, to ensure that our guests enjoy a unique dining experience.

The line cook will report to the Front of House Supervisor and Lodge Manager.

We are looking for an individual who is willing to sign a 6 months contract and with possible extension.

What You'll Do:                                                                                  

  •  Assist the Lead Cook with all cooking, prep, cleaning and subsequent staff direction in the kitchen.
  • Memorizing recipes, policies, procedures, and standard portion sizes.
  • Preparing ingredients and components of each recipe on the dining room's menu
  • Maintaining freshness of product and rotating old product out.
  • Assist with preparing order lists, completing inventories, verifying and putting away deliveries.
  • Ensuring all kitchen storage areas (fridge, freezer, pantry etc.) are kept clean and organized at all times.
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe workspace at all times to avoid contamination.
  • Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines.

 

                                                           

Qualifications

About You:

  • Experience working in a kitchen.
  • Food Safety Certification, or ability to receive certification prior to starting.
  • Customer service orientated and friendly.
  • Positive "can-do" attitude, a willingness to learn and ability to take direction under pressure.
