Key Accountabilities:
• Design and implement records management system.
• Manage and maintain all HFN records as prescribed in HFN laws and Regulations.
• Work with the Law Clerk on records-related and other projects.
• Maintain confidentiality and neutrality at all times.

Job Duties:
• Research, design, Implement and maintain a new records information management system (RIM) that ensures that the protection of all documents. Ensure that the filing and retrieving of records occurs in a standardized manner.
• Work with Law Clerk to establish and maintain a digital Law Clerk Registry.
• Ensure legislative and Executive Council records are current and maintained on the Huu-ay-aht First Nations website.
• Work with all departments to ensure compliance with records management system.
• Ensure documents with high confidentiality are handled in a consistent manner.
• Sort materials to be filed according to RIM; classify, code, cross-reference and store records; maintain indexes for classification systems.
• Operate information retrieval systems and respond to requests for records via the Law Clerk.
• Label files according to retention and disposal schedules.
• Provide all users with training, support, assistance and guidance with respect to the RIM.
• Photocopy, fax, and scan documents as required.
• Work with Law Clerk to develop and implement a RIM policy for all employees, elected officials, contract and others that provide services to HFN.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, statements and other material as directed.
• Provide support to committees as assigned (minutes, motions, meeting logistics)
• Ensure the preparation and distribution of records for committee meetings: prepare agendas, distribute materials through the Law Clerk.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Operational Requirements:
• Valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Some travel, including overnight and or weekends.
• Position requires successful applicant to work part-time from our Anacla location.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
• Successful backgrounds check, including employment verification, reference checks, and education/credential verification.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Grade 12 Education.
• Administrative, Records/Information Management or related certification is preferred.
• 2+ years of related experience in a records management or administrative support role.
• Previous experience with a formal records management system an asset.
• Superior organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

Position:  The Huu-ay-aht Group of Businesses (HGB) has a temporary full-time position available for an Operations Manager to plan and oversee operations for a diverse group of businesses in the Hospitality and Tourism sector.  The position is a temporary full-time position for a one year term.
 
Location:  The business operations are located in Anacla and Bamfield, B.C.
 
Open to:  All qualified applicants with preference give to Huu-ay-aht citizens and family members.  The successful applicant will be a local resident or be willing to relocate to the Bamfield area.
 
Description:
The successful candidate works independently reporting directly to the CEO of the Huu-ay-aht Group of Businesses.  As Operations Manager, you will be involved in overseeing all aspects of the businesses’ operations.  You will work closely with the Financial Controller and the Business Managers and Supervisors.  You will manage a wide range of functions including but not limited to:
• Providing oversight and leadership to the Business Managers and Supervisors.
• Working with Business Managers and Supervisors to optimize the businesses financial performance to ensure maximum profitability.
• Addressing issues related to staff and business performance.   
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
• Ensuring compliance to all policies, procedures and regulations regarding financial performance, safety, security and emergencies.
• Facilitating co-ordination and communication between support functions and the businesses.
 
Compensation package will be based on the successful candidate’s experience and recognized value to the organization.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: 

  • Knowledge of Huu-ay-aht First Nations goals and aspirations.
  • Knowledge of the unique challenges facing 'remote communities'.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a management role and 5 years of experience in a related hospitality and/or tourism business.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Proven ability to work independently developing and executing short term operational plans.
  • Proven ability to analyze and evaluate financial results and implement change when necessary.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop staff including the ability to mentor, coach and manage performance.
  • Proven ability in environmental stewardship as it relates to the specific businesses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and POS systems.
  • A professional designation in business management or related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Successful background checks, including, criminal record check, employment verification, reference checks, and education/credential verification.

The Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre is searching for two full-time cooks for our fall and winter season. As members of our production team, these cooks will be involved in providing daily service to our students, researchers, and guests, as well as some special event production.

About us: The Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre (BMSC) is a shared satellite campus of five universities, operating educational programs from approximately February 1st to December 15th each year. BMSC is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island in the beautiful and remote village of Bamfield, British Columbia. Our kitchen provides healthy innovative meals for our student and research clientele as we strive to provide a "from scratch" culinary experience. The kitchen at BMSC is well equipped, clean, and fully functional to provide three meals a day for up to 150 diners.

 

Qualifications

A Red Seal is always preferred, FOODSAFE is required. A sound background in all aspects of kitchen operation is a strong asset. We also welcome candidates with experience in catering production. These positions require a strong personality, the ability to take direction clearly and a desire to be a positive, reliable member of our crew. Cooks are responsible for daily breakfast, lunch and dinner production in our unionized work environment.
