JOB SUMMARY: Utilizing Outcome-informed and evidence-based practices, the counsellor provides assessment, treatment and referral services to people affected by substance abuse issues. The counsellor delivers service on individual, family, couples, group, and community basis. Clinician delivers culturally safe and appropriate services: clinical consults & assessments, group facilitation, and public information sessions in the community.
Minimum Bachelors Degree in a related discipline plus 3 years of recent related experience is preferred. Other combinations of addiction specific, counselling training and relevant experience of at least 5 years also considered.
Professional knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction issues, assessment methods, treatment methodologies and strategies. Professional training and credentials to deliver co-morbid mental health service and forensic oriented treatment is an asset. Strong case-management & clinical records maintenance practice required.
The successful candidate will have proven cooperative experience with local and provincial resources including Health Authorities and Community Corrections. A proven record for excellent clinical case-management and records maintenance is expected.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License and clear driver’s abstract.
Extensive Criminal Record Check is a pre-requisite.
