Duties:
· Responsible for the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which may include (but is not limited to) individual and corporate donations, grant solicitation, major gifts, and in-kind resources on behalf of the Society
· Cultivate and maintain positive productive relations with past and present funders, donors, volunteers and the community at large to exemplify and communicate the mission of delivery of high-quality, community-based palliative and end of life care to clients and their families as a cause worthy of contribution
· Prepares and implements a Fund Development Plan which maintains revenue at a level that supports the strategic direction of the organization
· Develops our legacy giving/donor appreciation program
· Ensure AVHS meets best practice standards set for resource development
· Ensures all AVHS resource development practices follow ethical standards
· University degree in a related field (business, commerce or leadership)
· A certificate in Fundraising management or demonstrated equivalent experience
· 3+ years of demonstrated experience in communications
· Applicable knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities
· Applicable knowledge of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy’s Ethical Fundraising and financial Accountability Code
· Applicable knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of hospice palliative care and the needs of the dying, their families and the bereaved
