Shifts start at 8 am in the morning weekdays and 9 am on weekends – 4 to 6 hours per shift
Applicants must be available for some weekend work.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist in planning meals that use available donated food.
- Prepares breakfast and a nutritious lunch each day and may work extra hours occasionally to prepare meals for special events.
- Works with volunteers who assist with and serve breakfast.
- Maintains kitchen records.
- Keeps the kitchen environment safe, orderly, and clean to the standards of the Health Authority; attends Health Authority and fire inspections.
- Ensures that temperature standards for food and serving facilities are adhered to.
- Is responsible for cleanliness of the kitchen, dining room, and for sorting and removing trash, recycling, and compostable material.
- Assist with dishwashing and sanitizing
Experience, education, training and other requirements
- No previous experience is necessary but an aptitude for cooking is an asset.
- Criminal check required.
- Food Safe 1 certificate.
- Must be able to lift heavy items and work standing for entire shift.
