Requirements
• Proven experience as cook
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team
• Very good communication skills
• Excellent physical condition and stamina
• Valid Food Safe
• Serving it Right is an asset
• High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
Working Conditions:
• Physical Demands - The incumbent may spend long hours in a warm kitchen with high volume. The incumbent may manage unexpected interruptions. He/she will also be required to lift boxes of supplies and other materials. The incumbent may also need to move or assist in moving moderately heavy items.
• Environmental Conditions – The incumbent is located in a often busy facility. The incumbent is faced with regular interruptions and must be able to balance priorities. The incumbent may be required to attend meetings at various times of the day, weekly staff meetings & one direct report meeting with the Executive Director. Late nights or unusual hours may be necessary.
• Sensory Demands – The incumbent may spend long hours in intense concentration or highly stimulating environments
• Mental Demands – The position has many deadlines which may cause stress. The incumbent must also deal with a variety of people on various issues solving immediate problems. Incumbent works in a team environment, where safe work and non discriminatory practices are key.
