We are looking to hire for full-time (40 hours a week), year-round employment in our culinary department as Second Cook starting immediately.
Zoe’s Bakery & Cafe provides a baked goods and a variety of lunch items, consisting of a daily gourmet sandwich, home-made soup, and a selection of deli salads and spreads. Our style uses locally sourced, seasonal ingredients; emphasizing quality and care. We are a whole foods bakery - making our food from scratch, using organic ingredients whenever possible, supporting the local culinary guild, and wasting no food.
You would be working directly under our Chef and closely with our Red Seal Pastry Chef - a great team learning environment for someone thinking of pursuing a culinary career (especially a co-op student in a culinary arts program and/or apprenticeship program).
Duties include: baking bread, cooking savoury items, making daily sandwiches, setting up the lunch line with the salads and soups, and are responsible for the lunch service.
Efficiency, strong communication and people skills are integral as this is an open kitchen. All positions at Zoe’s Bakery requires direct involvement with customers, assisting front-line staff with coordinating service and providing overall support in our fast-paced, team-oriented, community-focussed environment.
