Position: The District of Tofino is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full-time regular position of General Foreman in the Public Works Department.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering and Public Works, the General Foreman will be responsible for the supervision of Public Works employees, maintaining District facilities and fleet, infrastructure, material purchasing, safety and will work with managers and employees to coordinate operational and maintenance schedules. The General Foreman must demonstrate superior management ability and leadership qualities to provide assistance to the Public Works team. Responsibilities will include providing direction and support to team members in the performance of their duties, as required, to meet service expectations, departmental goals and objectives. Other responsibilities will include the performance of maintenance and technical tasks related to the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewaters systems in support of maintenance and construction operations. The General Foreman shall possess a highlevel of knowledge for the use of appropriate construction methods, selection of materials, site selection and timelines required for various engineering projects while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Hours of Work & Salary:
This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 118) based on a 40 hour work week. The starting hourly salary is $38.62, however, the District will consider applicants who meet the minimum requirements but do not have all of the requisite certifications. The salary will be increased as each level of certification is reached in accordance with the Tier scale set below:
