Key Accountabilities:
- Developing and implementing policies, systems and processes for a range of HR programs andservices, including compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management,job classification, training and development, recruitment, health and safety.
- Ensuring HR programs are aligned with HFN values and strategies.
- Acting as a resource to management in employee related matters.
- Maintaining confidentiality and neutrality at all times.
- Promoting a performance‐focused environment in alignment with the HFN’s values, culture and
- business goals.
Human Resources Management:
- Legislative and policy oversight and compliance:
- Follows all Huu‐ay‐aht Government Laws, Acts and Human Resource Policies.
- Understands and interpret Huu‐ay‐aht Human Resource Policies and Canada Labor Code
- Assists Executive Director and Associate Executive Director to ensure legal compliance bymonitoring and implementing applicable human resource policies, federal law and Huu‐ayaht
- Government law requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records.
- Ensures that HR material, such as employee handbooks, health and safety documents,contracts are comprehensive, consistent, up to date, and aligned with the company’s values policies and required legislation.
Staffing and Recruitment Coordination:
- Maintains staffing information by updating organization charts, job requirements, job descriptions and job postings.
- Coordinates the recruitment process, including posting jobs, screening applicants,coordinating and participating in interviews, organizing the candidate selection committee,writing and presenting offers to selected applicants.
- Coordinates the on‐boarding process, including preparing the new hire information package for employees.
Employee Relations and Performance Management:
- Coaches managers on providing constructive feedback and support to employees to recognize good performance, and to address poor performance in a timely manner
- Takes part in hearing and resolving employee grievances; including coaching and disciplining.
Employee Records Management:
- Maintains human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping of past and current records. Updates and organizes personnel files and keeps accurate file of employee hours, accrued vacation and overtime.
