The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council’s Education, Training & Social Development Department (ETSD) is seeking a permanent, full-time ETSD Data Specialist to play an integral role within its department. This position is responsible to research, providing statistical analysis, and summaries for student education outcomes, student populations, and education, training, and employment pathways. The Data Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that information is used to make informed decisions, support compliance and funding agreement requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Reviews incoming NTC PS Funding applications and enters application data into the database for processing by Post-Secondary Counsellor
Provides administrative support including review /logging/routing of incoming communication material, organizing calendars, coding invoices, coordinating meetings, creating department contracts, maintains department filing, and creating/updating staff orientation material as required
Organizes and maintains files for the Director of Education, Training and Social Development, including all contracts, funding agreement, negotiations, and reporting
Prepares reports required as per funding agreements: i.e.: K-12 Nominal Roll and PSE Annual student register
Creates summaries of statistical data that supports development of strategies to improve Nuu-chah-nulth student achievement, retention, graduation rates and employment and training success
Preferred Qualifications:
A certificate in applied data analytics and 3 - 5 years of direct experience
Demonstrated ability working with databases, and highly proficient in software applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PPT, Access and Outlook) and experience with data based software
Able to act with tact and diplomacy, meet deadlines, uphold confidentiality, and maintain effective working relationships
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently, multi-task, prioritize workload, and plan activities to meet tight deadlines
Possess a valid driver’s licence and have a reliable vehicle
Provide acceptable references and criminal record check
