We are looking for individuals to join our marine team for the 2019 season! Applicants must be willing to be a deckhand/naturalist on our 36 passenger vessel as well as work some sales shifts in our charter office. Staff accommodation may be available for the right candidate. Principle Responsibilities: • Crew on 36 passenger Catamaran NANUQ • Ensure vessel is operating efficiently (e.g. regular maintenance) • Communicate with sales staff regarding trips and scheduling • Update crew members on emerging pertinent information • Maintain cleanliness throughout vessel • Make sure vessel is stocked with necessary supplies • Inform management of any issues and incidents promptly • Provide information about the local wildlife and culture to passengers • Ensure passengers are safe and comfortable during trip • Perform regular safety drills throughout the season with crew members • Capable and willing to work some sales shifts
Skills, experience and personal attributes required: • Flexible schedule; willing to work long days • Strong work ethic & the ability to take initiative • Ability to take direction from Master of vessel • Very organized, personable and reliable • Knowledge of local wildlife and area an asset • Second language an asset (Preferably German or French) Qualifications: • Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A2 or STCW Basic Safety • Marine Basic First Aid • Restricted Operator’s Certificate (Maritime) ROC-M • Marine Emergency Duties (MED) B1 or STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue • Unrestricted Small Vessel Machinery Operator (SVMO) an asset
