Expressions of interest are invited from qualified individuals (the “Proponent”) to provide bookkeeping services for the Westcoast Inland Search and Rescue (WISAR) for a one year term (with option for renewal).
The Westcoast Inland Search and Rescue (WISAR) is a non-profit society whose purpose is to provide search and rescue assistance to the Provincial Emergency Program of the Province of British Columbia on land and inland waters. WISAR is based in the communities of Tofino and Ucluelet and provides Ground and Inland Water Search and Rescue services to local police authorities (RCMP and National Park Wardens) for Clayoquot Sound, and parts of Barkley Sound. These lands comprise the traditional territories of the Ahousaht, Ucluelet, Toquaht, Tla-o-qui-aht, and Hesquiaht First Nations. In addition, the Society responds to mutual aid requests from other parts of the Province of British Columbia. The Society currently has 42 volunteer members.
The Proponent’s primary functions will be to work with the Society Treasurer and Board to:
The Proponent must have a demonstrated background with accounting programs and office tools to carry out the tasks. As the WISAR intends to engage the Proponent under a contract for services, the Proponent must be capable of meeting legal requirements of being an independent contractor. WISAR is seeking a proponent who is not a member of the Society, but former members are welcome to apply. Contract will be for a one year term with a 3 month probationary term for both parties with an ability to renew annually if all parties are satisfied with the arrangement.
