Ecotrust Canada is seeking 5-Nation Fisheries Dockside Monitors for the 2021 Hook & Line (salmon and groundfish) demonstration fisheries. Monitors will be based in Tofino and work on the dock meeting fishing vessels as they land. Duties will be to monitor and document catch at offloads, and collect biological data on catch.
Fisheries are anticipated to commence April 01, 2021 and run until November 30, 2021. Actual length of fisheries is not known and set number of workdays is not guaranteed.
Pursuant to Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act, preference will be given to aboriginal candidates who have a working knowledge of Nuu-chah-nulth culture and fishing practices
Full Time - Seasonal (1 position):
The full time monitor will be the contact for skippers and monitors on the weekends. This position will consist of full work days starting at 7am on weekends and potential split shifts on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ecotrust Canada will provide a mandatory monitor training course in late May 2021 (exact dates TBD) in Tofino. Successful applicants must pass a training exam.
