Aquarist/Interpreters share knowledge of westcoast marine life and ecosystems with visitors to the Ucluelet Aquarium. Working with other members of the Ucluelet Aquarium team, they answer questions, create educational displays, and ensure the Ucluelet Aquarium is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for visitors of all ages. Aquarist/Interpreters also participate in the Ucluelet Aquarium’s animal care program, cleaning tanks, creating habitats for local specimens, and gathering data about water quality.
Must be able to lift 50lbs, work on ladders, and move across wet and uneven surfaces. These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs youth job creations program - to qualify, individuals must be between 15-30 years of age and either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee. Enthusiasm for local marine life and public education is an asset. Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with the public.
