The West Coast General Hospital Foundation is seeking a General Manager.  

This individual will have an understanding of publicly funded healthcare, and be able to work with a diverse and complex system, while staying focused on succeeding in our mission.  They will be experienced in the day to day operations of a non profit society, as well as able to manage a small business. Developing, planning and execution of fundraising initiatives, in collaboration with the Foundation Board and partners, is part of this diverse role.

The West Coast General Hospital Foundation is a small, yet active and successful philanthropic organization with a mission to support the quality of healthcare in the Alberni Valley.  

Qualifications 

The successful candidate’s attributes will include:

  • Strong leadership qualities and experience  
  • Demonstrated ability to fundraise
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare system  
  • Strong relational skills, including networking and clear communication, both verbal and written
  • Able to work with diverse groups of people comfortably
  • Budgeting and financial management experience
  • Experience in clarifying needs and working through differences to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ability to maintain focus on our goals
  • Experience in working in a volunteer and non profit environment
  • Demonstrated Supervisory competence
  • Strong ability to organize work and produce results without direct supervision  

Education:

  • University degree in Business Admin or 3-4 years of equivalent experience
  • Foodsafe certification or ability to complete certification within orientation period

Computer competency: 

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access

Must have valid drivers license
