The Alberni Valley Hospice Society (AVHS) is looking for a Coordinator of Events & Fund Development (CEFD) to join our progressive and dynamic team. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will work closely with the Executive Director to manage all fund development activities and communications for the organization.
The Alberni Valley Hospice is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to offer comfort to people facing death and grief.
As a member of the senior management team, the CEFD will successfully implement fundraising events, manage donor relations and social / print media strategies that support the mission, vision and goals of our society.
This role will create innovative and impactful event experiences, increase community awareness of the society’s objectives, drive community engagement and strengthen donor commitment to the society.
The candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional time
management and organizational skills are also essential. Ideally your experience includes a history of successful fundraising activities, or donor and media relations, event design / management and leading groups of volunteers. Possessing an entrepreneurial spirit is a definite asset.
Responsibilities
You will be the architect for all events and media campaigns and will collaborate with society staff, volunteers, board members, donors and community supporters who volunteer their time to help execute programs and fundraising activities.
Education: Undergraduate degree or certificate in Event Management, Hospitality, Fundraising, Marketing, Business Management and Communications or equivalent training and experience. You will have a proven track record of fundraising and /or business development success.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Event Management, Sales and Marketing, Communications Fundraising, Communications or relevant work history with a charity, non-profit agency.
You possess a high level of proficiency and experience in software applications including a donor database, or customer relationship management system. You are a self-starter who is disciplined, highly motivated, creative and possess exceptional time management and organizational skills.
This is a permanent full-time position, primarily Monday to Friday, 9am to 4 pm. Hours and days of work are flexible when events or activities occur outside of business hours. Some evening and weekend work may be required to attend events.
This is a senior management position; salary will be commensurate with proven skills and work experience.
