Salary and Reporting:
Reports to: Board of Directors
Liaises with: Board Chair (J.J. Belanger).
Base Salary: $25.00 per hour to begin. Increases with workload.
Benefits: Flexible work schedule. Approximately 10 to 20 hours per month to begin.
Place of work:
Unless otherwise decided by the Board of Directors, you will work from your home office in Tofino. Must attend all meetings in person at the designated locations.
Overall Responsibilities:
As the Executive Director (ED), you are responsible for effective and efficient operations of
WCHA, ensuring that the WCHA meets the expectations of its members, Board and stakeholders. This includes the full range of activities and responsibilities inherent in the ongoing, development and success of any business, such as (but not limited to);
Marketing and Communications
- Working with the Board in the development and deployment of a strategic marketing & communications plan for members with performance metrics to grow the membership.
- Managing all communication of the Board and members about upcoming meetings, minutes of all meetings and other items per Board request.
Fiscal Management:
- Responsible management of the WCHA budget ensuring the funds are collected and administered according to the budget with Board approval.
- Prepare and present an annual budget for approval to the Board prior to the annual AGM and presentation to the members in Coordination with the Finance Committee.
- Ensuring sound bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting practices are applied.
- Comprehensive reports are provided to the board on a monthly basis including on cash flow, revenues and expenditures.
- Work with the accountants on production of the annual financial statements ready for audit.
Governance and Reporting:
- Ensure effective team work between the Board and the ED.
- Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the WCHA.
- Work with the Board to ensure that appropriate organizational, policies and procedures are in place.
- Ensure that governance documents and company bylaws are renewed and reporting requirements are completed in a timely manner in collaboration with the Governance Committee.
- Coordination and attendance at the WCHA monthly Board meetings.
Communications:
- Work with the Chair and assist where needed as spokesperson for the WCHA.
- Liaise with Tourism Tofino and the Chamber as needed.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of WCHA and to identify changes in the community.
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, media and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the WCHA.
Collaboration
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with all stakeholders.
- Communicate regularly with the District of Tofino and stakeholders to identify changes in the community served by the WCHA.
