We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals to be Seasonal Agricultural Assistants at Avalon Farm in Sproat Lake, BC. The ideal candidates will have an interest in learning about organic farming practices, a willingness to work hard, and the ability to work both independently and with a team.

We are a 21-acre multi-use farm with certified organic blueberries, hayfield, organic gardens, and laying chickens. Each summer, we produce, process, and distribute thousands of pounds of fresh, organic blueberries on Vancouver Island.

Typical job duties:

  • Maintenance and management of blueberry bushes and crops
  • Crop harvest, including coordinating and supporting picking crew
  • Product quality control
  • Product sorting, packing, and loading into trucks and/or transport to market
  • Cleaning and organization of work buildings
  • Sales record keeping
  • Customer service and sales
  • Running irrigation system equipment
  • Assistance in maintenance and minor repair of farm equipment and buildings
  • Assistance with other general farm duties as needed

Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week, June 15 through August 31, 2026. The farm operates 7 days per week between 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Days and hours of work will vary within the farm opening hours and weekend hours will be required. A weekly schedule will be coordinated at the start of the employment period.

Qualifications 
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Customer service skills
  • Previous experience in agriculture or food industry work an asset
