We are a positive, team-focused gymnastics club looking for an enthusiastic coach to join our staff. We offer a supportive environment, structured curriculum, and opportunities for growth.
The Recreation Gymnastics Coach is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate gymnastics instruction to athletes of varying ages and skill levels. This role supports the overall mission of the club by promoting athlete progress, fostering confidence, and maintaining a positive team culture. The coach ensures classes run smoothly, athletes are supervised safely, and training aligns with club standards and gymnastics best practices.
Wage - $18.25 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Instruction
- Plan and deliver structured gymnastics classes following the club’s curriculum.
- Teach age-appropriate skills in artistic gymnastics (vault, bars, beam, floor) or other discipline as assigned.
- Monitor skill progression and adjust lesson plans based on athlete ability.
- Foster positive learning environments that emphasize safety, respect, and fun.
Athlete Safety & Supervision
- Maintain a vigilant awareness of athlete safety and proper spotting techniques.
- Ensure equipment is set up correctly, in good working order, and stored safely.
- Enforce all safety rules, gym policies, and codes of conduct.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to minor injuries and follow incident reporting procedures.
Program Support
- Communicate progress, concerns, or incidents with parents/guardians and supervisors.
- Assist with class check-in, attendance tracking, and athlete evaluations.
- Participate in staff meetings, seasonal training, and professional development.
- Support club events, competitions, testing days, or special programs as required.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with other coaches and staff to maintain a positive workplace.
- Represent the club professionally at all times.
- Contribute to a culture of respect, inclusivity, and encouragement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NCCP Gymnastics Foundations training and certification
- Respect in Sport Certification
- Making Ethical Decisions Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Current Criminal Record Check complete with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Experience working with children (coaching, sports, camps, childcare, etc.).
- Knowledge of basic gymnastics skills and safe coaching practices.
- Friendly, positive, and energetic attitude.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Availability for evening and/or weekend shifts
PAGA is willing to facilitate the training and certification required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate skills, lift mats/equipment, bend, spot athletes, and remain active on the gym floor for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to ensure athlete safety.
