Maintenance Person needed to perform maintenance and repairs related to building and grounds, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, snow removal and grounds-keeping, for a 15,000 square foot commercial office building in Port Alberni.

Requirement is for someone who can provide their own tools, and perform scheduled duties and also be available for on-call requirements.

Wage: $20 to $25 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Performs routine maintenance on building, grounds, and parking lot throughout the year. This includes picking up garbage and tidying building grounds, pulling weeds and shrubs, snow removal and salting on sidewalks, stairs, ramps and building entrances (does not include entire parking lot), outside window cleaning, and possibly painting lines in parking lot.
• Ensures building and surroundings meet all safety, security and fire regulations and policies.
• Performs minor carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical, and plumbing maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting. Some examples are lighting fixtures and bulbs, circuit breakers, emergency lighting, sprinklers, sinks, faucets, toilets, hot water tanks, HVAC systems, doors, locks and minor repairs and painting.
• Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases, contacts external contractors and trades people to obtain quotes, refers quotes to building owner for approval, and monitors work performed.
• Completes and maintains any required records such as maintenance logs, receipts, and security incident reports.
• Works collaboratively with building tenants to ensure that work performed does not interfere with client service and confidentiality or cause safety concerns.
• Performs other related duties as required.
