Custodians perform a variety of custodial duties, often independently and mainly inside a district school or building.
Qualifications include a recognized course (Building Service 1 & 2)* in custodial methods and practices that includes knowledge of chemical and cleaning compounds used in commercial cleaning applications and their appropriate use and safety features. *A Building Service Worker certificate is preferred but not essential provided the successful candidate registers for the BSW course (offered at North Island College) Applicants should possess a current WHMIS card, valid BC Drivers License, and have the physical ability and skills to operate a variety of equipment such as vacuum cleaners, polishers, automatic scrubbers and carpet cleaners.
All employees of school district 70 (alberni) are required to have a current criminal record check.
