The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion dollar organization based on the fundamental principles of co-operation. It is comprised of a network of approximately 200 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada along with their branch operations, and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). FCL is the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS, which provides the retail co-ops with a range of products and services. Ucluelet Co-op invites applications for the position of Asset Protection Clerk.

As the Asset Protection Clerk with Ucluelet Co-op you will be responsible for helping to prevent financial loss from theft and fraud. This role will ensure that all company policies, local, provincial and federal laws are adhered to in the execution of internal and external theft investigations or inquiries.

You will report to and work under the direction of the Asset Protection Manager, with department managers and all staff to ensure objectives are clearly communicated and executed.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • As a team member, you will be informed and properly trained to assist and support local laws relating to Asset Protection initiatives;
  • Ensure Asset Protection Administrative standards are met;
  • Work with staff to ensure minimal store inventory shrink levels that are achieved;
  • Understand and follow, the Asset Protection Manual containing current Co-op asset protection policies, procedures, standards, and check-lists;
  • Assist and support with periodic Asset Protection and Security audits on building security, internal controls, and support Co-op policies and procedures by ensuring compliance and implementing improvements. Advise Asset Protection Manager of any concerns;
  • Keep current on Asset Protection technology and implement strategies;
  • Ensure all security equipment is functional and in good repair (Alarm, CCTV, locks, etc.).
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and urgent issues as they arise.
  • Assist with completion of incident reports/ conducting investigations for, internal and external fraud, theft, and other criminal offences;
  • Testify in criminal court as required, and provide support to team members who may also be required to testify;
  • As directed, you will communicate and enforce policies and procedures to store population;
  • Identify operational deficiencies as they relate to Asset Protection issues and report to Asset Protection Manager in a timely manner;
  • Ensure daily operational checks are completed and inefficiencies handled in a timely fashion.

Qualifications 
  • Loss Prevention Designation (CPP, CFI, CFE, LPQ or LPC) and/or Commerce or Business Degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of Asset Protection and/or Risk Management experience, preferably in the retail industry
  • Must be bondable, First Aid Certification Level 2
  • Must have or be readily able to acquire the BC Security Services License
  • Knowledgeable of provincial and federal law
  • Strong aptitude and knowledge of retail security systems, information systems and productivity software
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license as travel will be required
