We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team here at Little Beach Cottages. Little Beach Cottages is a 19-room cottage property located in Ucluelet BC on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, Canada.

As caretaker you will play at critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and guest satisfaction of our small cottage property.

Responsibilities:

  1. Property management: oversee the day-to-day operations of the cottages and property, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
  2. Check in and check out guest services: Greet and welcome guests upon arrival. Although our cottages are self-contained you will be required to address issues that require a physical presence and communicate directly with the guests on a daily basis.
  3. Housekeeping: this is the main responsibility of the caretaker. Provide daily towel and garbage removal and a thorough cleaning upon checkout to prepare for new arrivals.
  4. Maintenance and repairs: conduct regular inspections of the property, identify any maintenance or repair needs. Repair as required or coordinate with contractors to address repairs in a timely manner. Safety is our primary objective.
  5. Requirements:  someone who has a combination of knowledge and experience of handy person skills to conduct basic repairs, help with ongoing renovations, lawn and landscaping duties.
  6. Inventory management: keep track of inventory, including supplies, linens, amenities, and ensure they are replenished as needed.
  7. Communication: maintain effective communication with the property owner, other staff members, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
  8. Administration/Compliance: recognize compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and notifying the management team promptly having identified any issues. Some computer skills are required for replying to emails, and inquiries.  

Preference: previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality and maintenance industry. Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle guest interactions with professionalism and courtesy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail an ability to maintain high cleanliness standards. Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair tasks. Proficiency in using technology and online platforms for reservation and guest communication. Ability to both works independently and as part of a team.

As caretaker you will be working independently and often alone. This follows your 3-month training period. The expectation is for the right individual to cover all aspects of the day-to-day operations and can schedule and manage their time accordingly. The position is full time. There will be a training period to acclimate to the property and position.

Renumeration: salary is negotiable based on prior experience.

Caretaker housing: fully serviced vintage Airstream RV is provided on site. The Airstream RV has a private deck parking, awning and an ocean view.
