Overview

This marketing specialist position brings the right candidate to the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island, in Ucluelet. Tourism Ucluelet is seeking an creative and strategic individual to fill this position. This role reports to the Executive Director and is responsibe for the implementation of the annual marketing plan  to educate visitors of community expectations, support stakeholders, and brand awareness drawing likeminded consumers to the area. This position offers an individual who is an out-of-the-box creative thinker to generate intriguing campaigns that shares our messages in irreverent captivating ways.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of annual marketing plan as it pertains to our sustainability and visitor education goals.
  • Development of collateral projects, coordinate details and monitor deliverables
  • Create digital content and curate all social media channels – schedule weekly posts across platforms using a content management system
  • Oversee digital asset maintenance
  • Create CrowdRiff videos using organic and user generated content
  • Work with our creative agency on campaign strategies and creation
  • Update website content as needed, maintain stakeholder listings and our events calendar
  • Improve and maintain stakeholder communications through email and Mailchimp
  • Organize stakeholder workshops, events and help coordinate media visits
  • Support in merchandise design for visitor centre

This position is intended to be full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Tourism Ucluelet offers a competitive wage, extended health benefits, a flexible work schedule and company laptop. The position is typically Monday to Friday and can be a hybrid work arrangement. On occasion, evenings or weekends may be required as it pertains to specific media tours/events.

Qualifications 

Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Multimedia experience using TikTok, CrowdRiff and Instagram reels, Facebook Business Manager
  • Knowledge in WordPress CMS is an asset
  • Ability to understand and interpret Google Analytics
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Windows Operating Systems, including Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Graphic design as asset
  • Understanding SEO an asset

Education

  • Minimum of a business, marketing, or tourism related diploma/degree; or 4+ years of equivalent experience in social media management, creative design, and administrative support
  • Previous project management, marketing and stakeholder relations experience is an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 4+ years' experience working in communications, marketing, or public relations field
  • Experience working in a tourism destination marketing organization is an asset
