The First Nations Women’s Outreach Worker provides a range of services including socio-educational activities and presentations on the issues of violence against women, violence prevention and safety promotion; follow up contact, referral and support for women and their children post transition house, post court hearing or following other victim services; short term crisis support; community capacity-building and coordination for women’s safety; and developing networks with related agencies and services.

Qualifications 
  1. A Diploma in a related human/social service field. 
  2. A minimum of two years community development experience and/or women’s anti-violence work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  3. Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support systems. 
  4. Full & valid BC. Driver's License, own vehicle in good working condition and appropriate insurance. 
  5. Level 1 first aid with CPR 
  6. Non-Violent crisis intervention training and/or mental health first aid training 
  7. Knowledge and experience working with West Coast communities. 
  8. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. 
  9. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 
  10. Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
  11. Crisis intervention skills. 
  12. Exceptional interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills. 
  13. Successful criminal record check 
  14. This position is open to First Nations female applicants only
