Key Responsibilities of an Employment Services Outreach Worker Include

  • Outreach & Client Service: Deliver employment supports, job-readiness activities, and group cohort-based workshops at partner agency sites (e.g., community college, shelters, treatment programs, and youth-serving organizations). Conduct client assessments, identify barriers and strengths, and develop individualized Employment Action Plans.
  • Customized Employment: Conduct Discovery with clients to identify skills, interests, and ideal work environments. Work with employers to carve or adapt roles that align with client strengths and support needs. Facilitate accommodations, assistive-technology solutions, and natural workplace supports.
  • Job Coaching & Retention: Provide on-the-job coaching and follow-up to support clients with disabilities and/or multiple barriers in achieving and maintaining employment.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate client records in the Integrated Case Management (ICM) system and contribute to data-quality and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Skills and Abilities

  • This position is suitable for someone who enjoys working with people, maintains strong professional boundaries, and demonstrates empathy and compassion
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a trauma-informed, client-centred approach
  • Ability to build rapport with clients, employers, and community partners
  • Experience facilitating small-group or cohort-based employment activities
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple outreach priorities
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn database systems such as ICM
Qualifications 
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree relevant to providing services to persons with disabilities
  • Demonstrated experience supporting persons with disabilities and/or individuals with multiple and persistent barriers, including those who may be unhoused or precariously housed, and those who may be struggling with mental health or addictions
  • Ability to assess needs, identify accommodations or assistive-technology solutions, and build partnerships with employers and community stakeholders
  • Minimum three years’ experience in employment counselling, supported employment, or outreach service delivery
  • CCDP certification or equivalent (or willingness to obtain) is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation
  • Must pass a criminal record check (vulnerable sector)
