Position Overview: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Dental Sterilization Assistant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of all dental instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, performing routine maintenance checks and documenting results.
  • Prepare and set up treatment rooms for each patient procedure, ensuring all necessary sterile instruments and supplies are available and correctly organized.
  • Manage dental supply inventory, track stock levels, and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  • Adhere to all provincial and federal health and safety regulations (e.g., IPAC, OSHA) and ensure compliance with sanitation protocols.
  • Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials and sharps waste.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the dental team (dentists, hygienists, and assistants) with general clinical support and operatory turnover as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous clinical or sterilization experience in a dental or medical setting is a strong asset, but on-the-job training may be provided for the right candidate.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision in following safety procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a fast-paced workflow independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and software (e.g., Dentrix) is an asset.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive, patient-first mindset.
