Job Description:

The Assistant Manager contributes to Chocolate Tofino’s unique culture by ensuring that a team of associates create and maintain the Chocolate Tofino experience for our customers. We are a family run business and value commitment to quality service and transparency with each other and our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and knowledge to promote the core values of Chocolate Tofino’s culture.
  • Team building and ability to use discretion in providing direction to others.
  • Maintains and models a calm exterior presence during periods of high volume or unusual events and moves on immediately after to keep the store operating to standard and to set an example for the team.
  • Reviews store environment and seeks opportunities for improvement in order to provide coaching and direction to the team to achieve efficiency and smooth operation.
  • Engages in conversation with customers to understand customer needs and responds with diplomacy and generosity in times of customer dissatisfaction.
  • Leads the staff and encourages development of individual strengths and improvement on individual initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and anticipate the needs of the team, which means jumping in where most needed, ie scooping ice cream, making cones, fulfilling chocolate orders, doing dishes, answering phones, etc.
  • Accountability for cash handling, and inventory.
  • Creates and manages staff schedule on a bi-weekly basis.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum of one year supervisory/ management experience in the retail, hospitality or restaurant industry.
  • Experience managing, training, and motivating anywhere from 6-20 customer service team members.
  • Ability to resolve concerns from customers and between team members.
  • Chocolate and gelato knowledge is a plus!
  • FoodSafe Level 1 an asset but not necessary.
  • Must have accommodation in Tofino or Ucluelet and reliable transportation.
